Registry ques

If I put something on my registry that is on sale...will the price change if it is not on sale anymore or is the price locked in? Does it depend on the store?

it can be a good or bad thing.

Ex: crate & barrel discontinued some things on our registry, so they went 50% off. our original price wasnt locked in, so the items were much cheaper!

However, I made a post earlier about how much Macy's prices fluctuate. Usually they are the same 'sale' price but sometimes they are listed at full retail (overinflated) price, and sometimes an add'l sale. You never really now when you register at a store with regularly fluctuating prices.

It's not always a bad thing though

how was Crate and Barrel to register with? I never even thought of using them...I love Crate and Barrel!

i love crate & barrel too but they were a pain to register with. their stock changes seasonally so things are constantly being discontinued or out of stock. our whole registry is all 'no longer available' or 'low quantity' -- we went in and bought some of the pieces ourselves (they were half price) but it is very frustrating. i love everything they have but nothing is around for long.

with that in mind, we got spares of some of our glassware because a lot of it is already discontinued and we know pieces will break down the road. we obviously can't replace them... we had them packaged up nicely in a C&B box and we keep it stored away for now.

if you register at C&B, dont give much lead time or pick items you wont mind replacing.

Prices change BUT it can work to your advantage. Our friends who gave us gifts were so pleased they could get stuff on sale they ended up buyinf 3x the stuff for the same price they originally planned to spend anyway. So we really got the majority of what was on our registry before we were married. It was AWESOME! Our entire kitchen was pretty much set up and what we didnt get then we asked for as Christmas gifts or birthday gifts and it worked out well. our families really like having specifics so they loved the registry.

Also if you register at macys you get mone back-whatever they spend, a percentage gets put into your special rewards. we got $150 bucks 'free' from what others spent. It rocked!
