We finally started our registry (BB&B). I have to be honest - it was no where NEAR as fun as I thought it was going to be. I kept worrying about looking greedy! My mom was with us, so that may have added to the stress.
FI was happy as a lark and was a total scan-hog.
OK.... here's my question. We found our 'everyday' dinner wear and flatwear and crystal. Should we just register online at Fortunoffs? My mom is insisting that we have to actually GO to Fortunoff in order to receive the coupons. I'm in Maryland - so getting up there is no easy feat (and we don't have Fortunoff down here).
Honestly, were the coupons THAT useful? Will they just MAIL the coupons?
Thanks ladies.... Amy

Re: Registry question....
What are the coupons for? We had originally registered at Fortunoffs, but are no longer using that registry. I never received any coupons, but we did get a $25 gift card.

Re: Registry question....
The coupons weren't really that useful, in my opinion. The only one I kept and didn't throw away, is a free makeup trial with Maximus, but seeing as thought you're out of town, I don't know how useful that would be for you. I think you should just set it up online, much easier for you and doesn't require a trip to the store. Next time you're in town, you can go to the store and see if there's anything you'd like to add, since not everything at the store is online and then you can request the coupons. We set ours up online and went to the store a couple of months afterwards and asked for the coupons. Have fun!

Re: Registry question....
I registered at Macys... going there was definately useful, because they set you up to get 10% off all your purchases from now until the wedding and the 5% giftcard....

Re: Registry question....
I registered online at Fortunoff about 3 or 4 weeks ago and didn't get anything in the mail from them.
I think you need to go in person to get that stuff.

Re: Registry question....
We registered in the store and about 5 weeks later we received the following coupons from Fortunoffs: 10% off the purchase of wedding bands 10% off engraving wedding bands 10% off of attendant gifts if 4 or more are purchased from their jewelry, watch or silver gift departments a free make-up trial at maximus salon located right next door in the source mall a coupon for $100 American express traveler's check if you book your HM through American express. I think that is it. As for Macy's you need to have registered in 6 different departments to get their coupons.

Re: Registry question....
I didn't use any of the Fortunoff coupons, but I would still register in person. I updated and added online and not everything is listed on the website - you have a MUCH wider selection of things in the store.

Re: Registry question....
Why not call Fortunoff and explain that you live out of state and are getting married on LI and want to register. See if they will send you the coupons. You can always set up the registry online and next time you are on LI, go there and see if you want to add some things. You can always edit your registry.
And next time, don't go with your mom I would have been nervous and worried, too.

Re: Registry question....
Just a word of warning. When I went in person to register, and asked about how to add things later I was told that I had to add items online and wouldn't be able to add them in the store later. I could have gotten the wrong information, but I would ask them specifically about that.

Just as info- we originally registered 2 years ago and we have done both in-store and online modifications so either shouldn't be a problem!

Re: Registry question....
The only reason I would hesitate to do my registering solely online is that sometimes pictures don't really look like the object/item does in person...
I like to see and feel things and decide whether or not I really like them...
I usually only use online to update lists, remove items we put on accidentally, etc...

Re: Registry question....
I registered in the store and have modified the registry both in store and on line. You just give them your number and they give you a new gun to register with. Then tell them what you want to have deleted.
