Registry Question?

Registry Question?

I took a bunch of stuff off of my registry in the hopes that the registry stuff will be purchased quickly and I'll get more $$$ (sneaky, I know...IMO.)

But then it dawned on me...perhaps people will buy me other things if the registry is complete -- things I don't want, aren't returnable, etc.

So...my question: do you ladies think I should add more stuff back onto my registry? At least this way I know I can return it for store credit and get something I want.

Thoughts?

I think it can go both ways. some people will buy you something that is not on your registry, and you may have to return it. others will give you a gift certificate at the place where you registered. it is a toss up imo!

Re: Registry Question?

I would recm'd a HM Registry. I kept our Registry at BB&B at a minimal so that people felt inclined to give $$ towards the HM...worked like a charm! When gifts ran to a low at BB&B, people started giving to the HM Registry.

Re: Registry Question?

In my shower attending experience, I don't know too many people that got money as gifts. They either got stuff they registered for, stuff they didn't that the buyer had and can't live without, or giftcards.

ETA: A honeymoon registry is a good idea, then guests can contribute towards that if they want to give you something from a registry.

Re: Registry Question?

I've got a HM registry and with my shower coming up, I've gotten a signifigant contribution to the HM registry and stuff is missing from my Fortunoff registry. But I know that a lot of people don't understand the concept behind a HM registry and truthfully, that's really what I prefer after cash. But there's really no way of saying that (IMO) unless they ask (cards did go into my shower invites, though.)

So what do you think...add more to my Fortunoff registry or leave as is?
