Ok I need your help girls! FH and I want to let family and friends know we started a registry but we don't want to be inpolite about it. FH suggested sending out save the date magnets but I think sending them at this point would be absolutely ridiculously too early! I was thinking of maybe sending out engagement announcements but is it tacky to put the registry cards in there? We don't expect everyone to buy us giifts but there are family members we know would like to but don't know if and where we registered.

Re: registry question!
I think it would be tacky to put them in with an engagement announcement. It gives off the wrong message. It's like you're saying 'We're Engaged! Give me a present!' If you send out an announcement, most people may want to send you something, although with our announcement we usually got money. However, if they want to send you a present then they'll probably call and you can let them know where you're registered then. Another suggestion is if you want to start receiving items off your registry for Christmas then tell your parents and if anyone else in your family calls up asking what you want for Christmas they can refer them to the registry, or you can refer them if they call you themselves. I'm doing this since my aunts and uncles and stuff get me presents for Christmas. HTH

Re: registry question!
make a wedding website on any of the wedding sites and email it to them....on the site it tells them where you are registered and its also serves as an engagement announcement

Thanks! We already let our family know to get us stuff from our registry for christmas/chanukah. Yea that was the problem, we're not begging for gifts but a lot of people would want to know where we're registered and it's hard to distinguish between those that would appreciate the notification and those that would find it tacky. But you're right, if I send out an engagement announcement the people that would like to know would make it their business to find out

Re: registry question!
we didnt reg. nor do we plan on it for about another 6 months. were not having an engagement party and i just think its silly for us to do it now... but i do agree that it would be tacky to add it to the announcement. but i thnk the idea of putting it on the website and having the web address on the announcement is a GREAT idea!!!!
