Ok so last night, FH & I worked on our registries. I have a few questions....
1) How do you know you have enough stuff on your registry?
2) Do most people register at 2 places? We registered at Macys & BBB.
3) If something gets discontinued from now until then, do they let you know? Because I dont have everything memorized on my registry.

I don't thnk they let you know. i think you have to keep checking your registry if it gets discontinued. I registered at 2 places. I registered for my engagment party last summer and things jjust kept coming off and as i checked it i had to keep adding things. I think you just have to keep track? or if you are having a surprise and aren't checkign it just put an abundent amount of things on there!

make sure to have at least double the amount of items than your guest list to the shower.
Actually most people register at 3 places so 2 is definitely not too much
BBB sends you mail notifications for when something gets discontinued. The others i check the registries online and it says it on there if something is limited quantity left or even on back order

Yes you will get an email from them. Just got one from Macys about a discontinued Vase. I also registered At Macys and BBB. I registered for more stuff at BBB though. You can add more stuff like candles, new weight scale, new shower head, LOL. I always ask myself too if we registered for enough stuff< my mother thinks I did, so I guess I did. LOL!!

Macys just sent me an email two days ago letting me know there were items on my registry that might no longer be available and I should replace them. then I logged onto my registry and under certain items printed in red it said 'please select replacement item'

I know that BBB and Fortunoff do email you when something is discontinued. I wouldn't worry about memorizing everything.

As far as how much to have, it's always better to have more than less. Are you having a big shower/wedding? If so, I would make sure to put lots of extras on.. extra sheet sets, towel sets, things like that. I also know from past brides that once shower invites go out, as bad as it is to peek , you check your registries once in a while and if you see there's not too much left you add more.
I think you register at however many places you want. I only registered at one (Fortunoff) but I keep thinking I should add another.
If something gets discontinued the store should let you know.

They don't let you know. But figure that your shower is going to be a couple of months before the wedding, so just keep checking it periodically through the summer to make sure everything is up to date. As far as having enough stuff, there's no 'right' amount, try and follow one of the registry guides that the stores give you as an outline and then go from there.
ETA: I see that some of you got notices, I never got any emails or anything from Macys or BB&B when I had discontinued stuff. No matter though since I was a registry stalker up until the day before my shower.

i dont think i have ennough things on my registry - oh well.
i had my mom put on the back of the registry card from BBB
gift cards - home depot/marshalls

Yeah they should send you an email when they update it with discontinued items. I know fortunoff does. I registered at Fortunoff and Potterybarn...and i just keep adding stuff on because if i don't get it i am sure i will buy it after!

thanks so much! Thats good to know! I figure I am having like 50-60 people to my shower. My mom said the average people usually spend is $50 for a shower or a little more. So I added up my registry and i'm right in line with that, so I guess as long as a stalk it i could always add more stuff. Thanks for all your help!

Macys told us how much we should have.. They gave it to us in a packet... You can ask them.. It breaks it down by price range and how many items you should have within that price range!
