Registry question

How much is the most expesive item on your registry? The salesman at bed bath and beyond talked me into adding some really pricey items that I feel a little uncomfortabe asking for. I know pple can all go in together to buy gifts but do you think they will be thinking Im asking too much? The one he really forced me to add was a $500 vacuum. Is that rediculus or normal?

I had a full silverware set that wa $400----but it was Macy's so I knew it would be on sale at there would be coupons. Our friends paid like $180 for it.

Don't put anything on that you don't feel comfortable with.

However, it's totally possible that 2-3 people may 'go in together' to buy a gift for you.

My pots and pans were $599. FH's parents bought them for us as an e-gift. My thoughts are put it on. People don't HAVE to buy it, but they might. Some people might go in on a big gift together. Hey, you never know

ETA: Anyone registering for the Dyson....KEEP IT ON! FH and I bought one when we first moved in together, and it's one of the best purchases we ever made. I will NEVER go back to a regular vaccuum.

Re: Registry question

My advice to you on this one - you can always change your registry online where there are no pushy salespeople to 'push' you into registering for things you do not want.

If you really want it - than yes, keep it on and if someone wants to spend that much = they will, if they don't they will buy you something else.

If you feel that you were pressured about it and dont really want it - then just take it off. It's your choice.

Re: Registry question

we have a few pricy items-we registered for an all-clad set that was 650, and my mom already bought it for our e-party. we also have our luggage and our vacuum

My knife set was $450 (FH insisted). I think that was the most expensive individual item. Someone bought it. I may have added a dyson if I did not have one but i bougt it for myself a while ago.

p.s. someone did buy the knife set!

Re: Registry question

I'd say like 1-3 pricey items are ok.

I had a $500 Henckels set, $300 kitchen aid mixer and something else. I ended up getting all of them! YAY!

the whole expensive vaccuum thing is redic IMO... we originally had one on the reg that was $200 i believe... but then i said... we have a perfectly fine vac at home... a bissel and it does a pretty good job... no need to have people waste money on soemthing that i dont need to have replaced... instead i added a carpet cleaner bc we dont have one and will prob need it in the future...

ETA: the most expensive stuff we have on our is our bedding... but thats something you use every night and getting a good nights sleep is essential imo so thats where we 'spurlged'

Re: Registry question

i wouldnt worry about it, if you have moderately priced items on your registry then its fine. If EVERYTHING was expensive then it would be a problem. But guests wont look at your registry and say 'oh no she has an expensive item on there means we have to spend alot' guests know very well that expensive items are for parents, very close family members or bp chipping in to get it. They wont feel obligated at all. Most guests just say i want to spend x amount and will specifically look at your registry for something in that price range.

i have the $500 vacuum. if people don't want to spend the money then they won't but this way you get the discount on it after the wedding. THe registry is a suggestion not a you must buy me this expensive gift.
