registry question

registry question

If I get a gift on my registry and there's no receipt, will I be able to exchange/return it? What happens if it's gone on sale, will I get the lower price? If I get something not on my registry, how will I know where it's from if we want to exchange?

I only ask these questions b/c we live in a small NYC apt. and don't want to have too much stuff laying around. Also, if we only get one set of flatware, we're not going to buy all the rest, we really don't need a whole lot (I'm a grad student and my FH is going back to school soon).

Re: registry question

It depends on the store. Some places make you wait until you are within a certain number of days of your wedding to exchange as a registry item. Other stores will let you exchange it, and other stores don't care at all. Find out the policy from the places you are registering.

Depends on who you have for your registry - that is why I picked the two places I have my registries with b/c of my friends mistakes.

We got duplicates of some gifts b/c people went off of the registry - and there were some problems with items off the registry (fondue pot was broken in shipping - etc) and we changed our crystal on our registry (we had one pattern on for 2 days- we picked it online then saw it in the store and hated it and changed it right away) needless to say a BM bought 2 flutes during that time (1 month before e-party invites went out.

We went to our stores with the gifts - told the security person that we just received these gifts at our e party w/out receipts but we need to return or exchange them - we went to the department and they looked up our registry to see that they came off of them (helped that most were in that stores boxes- or had a handle with the stores name on it.

What kind of flatware do you have - if you picked silver then they are not returnable - just a warning - make sure if you are going to change anything make sure it is returnable. I think when they look at the item bought they can tell what it was bought for - BUT not sure about that -

Make sure it is really from there - some friends received gifts from family that they put into say fortunoffs boxes or bloomies or macy's boxes but the gift was not actually from there

Re: registry question

Each store is different. You need to ask at the store where you registered.
