I think you can do most registries online. You may just want to go in the store to see details and such and make sure that's what you really want.

I agree you should look at things in person because they can look very different than how they appear online. Even the pictures on the boxes of things I looked at looked very different from the real thing.

Fortunoffs, Bed Bath & Beyond

I know those 2 for sure. Just be careful, because all that is available online, may not be available at stores. At least that's what the woman at BB&B told me.

Although I think you need to do the initial registering at the store (I could be wrong), I know that Bed Bath & Beyond lets you add all the items you want from home. My FI and I registered there, but then ran out of time when it came to walking the store , so we put a lot on at home.

I started and did most of my crate & barrell & pottery barn registries online and then went to the stores to check everything out (I agree some stuff doesnt seem diff, esp with regard to sizes of things, in person).
its so addicting adding things to it when you get bored at work

I started all of my registries (fortunoff, BBB, macy;s lenox..though some I never published for people to see) online.

I did my entire BB&B registry online...the only caveat is that I registered for things that were carried exclusively online so the people that went to the store complained...can't please everyone!

Mind you...there were TONS of stuff still available at the store!

I registered at Crate and Barrel, Macy and Fortunoff all online without physically going there. It was so convenient.

I only went in person when I wanted to see certain items in person.

I was able to register totally online at Target. All I have on there are plates so far, but when I saw them, I knew I had to have them, so I did it right away. I can go on anytime and add other things - it's SO cool to be able to register in the comfort of your own home! I walked through Fortunoff and didn't see anything I loved and they are so over priced. I might end up registering there, too, for certain items, but for now, it's just Target.

And vice versa . . . . the selection of housewares at Fortunoff's is greater than that online.

I opened up both my registries online. When we went to B,B&B to make some updates in person, we changed our minds on a few items once we saw them at the store. Things online can sometimes be deceiving.

I've got Williams-Sonoma and some things you can't add online. If you're logged in you won't see the whole store catalog like you would if you weren't logged into your registry. It's annoying.
