How many places did you register at? Name the stores. How many months before your parties/ wedding did you register? Would you have done anything different?
My mom asked my FH and I to register because she is throwing us an engagement party and some of the family members have been asking her questions about our registry (even though our wedding is 18 months away). We went this past Weds to register at Bed Bath & Beyond and I was thinking about registering at Macy's for other stuff when it gets closer to the shower or do a honeymoom registry. I just want to know what you all did!

Re: Registry Questions
Im only registering at Bed Bath and Beyond. Its just so much easier for people to shop at one store that offers the 20% coupons. We registered in Jan of 09 which was like over 2 years before the wedding which as been great since Ive recieved gifts for my birthday and Xmas from the registry.

Re: Registry Questions
I was originally at Fortunoff I registerd very soon after getting engaged bc in my family people want to buy you regisry type gifts for all occasions and I didn't want to end up with stuff I didn't want.
Now I am registered with Macy's and Williams Sonoma. Macy's seemed the most comparable to Forunoff, and their rewards program is AWESOME and I am a big baker/cooker so Williams Sonoma was also a natural choice

Re: Registry Questions
We're registered at BBB, Macy's, and Amazon.
We did our BBB and Macy's registries about a month after we got engaged so that it would be set up for our e-party.

Re: Registry Questions
We registered at BBB, Macys, Williams-Sonoma, and Pottery Barn. BBB was our main registry, and Macy's had our bedding on it. The Pottery Barn I did online only, not in store, and that was just for our holiday dishes, and Williams-Sonoma was online only too for some gourmet items. Most people bought from BBB, and I got 2 things from Macy's and 1 from Williams-Sonoma.
We registered in November of 2008, so 13 months before our wedding. Our eparty was end of November 2008, so we got a few items then, and I had an early shower in August. If I had it to do differently, I wouldn't have registered at Williams-Sonoma, because the things were cute but not useful, and we got something there for a wedding gift that we didn't really need, and sounds bad, but I would have rather had the monetary value, and they don't give cash back on returns.

We registered at BBB and Potterybarn...FH and I have lived together for a while so we really do not need that much stuff....

Re: Registry Questions
We technically just registered one place, myregistry.com, but since this website lets you add stuff from any store, we really would have registered at about 10 different places. Luckily, there is just one registry list to show guests! We registered about a year before the wedding, but we both had relatives who wanted to give us wedding things for christmas and birthdays so that's why. Our wedding isn't until November, but so far I don't think I would do anything differently!

Re: Registry Questions
BBB and Macy's....our Macy's one is really supplemental...it has our bedding, our pyrex, the completers to our china and a couple of other things...most of it is at BBB.
We registered a little more than a year out from the wedding, but that was because i was impatient haha...I recommend waiting a little longer, because I've already had some things discontinued.

Re: Registry Questions
don't register for any bedding so far in advance. bedding goes on sale rather quickly and you'll just have to re-register for things like that closer to the wedding. It makes some sene to register ahead of time if people want to buy you engagement gifts - you'll just have to find somewhere to put them in the meantime! But at least you'll receive gifts you like. And during the holidays or birthdays, don't be surprised if people buy you items from your registry! You can have just one registry where you have everything listed and use another one just as a back up - i did.
