Registry... silly question...

Registry... silly question...

when you girls went to register.. what did you do?? example.. did you write up a list of things and then go to the store and put them on your list or did you go to store and decide there? I'm trying to figure out what is the most smartest, stressless & fastest way to register.

TIA!

Re: Registry... silly question...

most, if not all, stores will provide you with a list of the things 'you should register for'.

remember, they are a business and want to sell stuff!!!.

use it as a guide, also keep in mind whatever makes sense for you. some couples already live together, so they might not need as much that would be found on a 'standard' list.

also... most places will allow you to update your registry online. this way, if you forget something, you can add it whenever you have the time.

Re: Registry... silly question...

Just think of 'useful' things you want prior to registering.

If not living with FH:
New towels
Kitchen stuff
beddings
small appliances
Vaccum
etc..

If living with FH:
Either... replacement of what you already have
or add what you are missing

We were already living together with some many duplicates. We asked for cash and gift certificates to Home Deport and Sears since we have a house.

So many brides end up with 'stuff' then don't really need in the end. That's clutter that will never be used.

So take your time, talk to FH and see what you like. Don't let anyone pressure you to have china or crystal platters you will never use unless you want them.

You can also register are several places.

This is SO TRUE - we have a very small house and we were VERY practical in our registry and we even registered at Home Depot!! ...and we GOT things off the Home Depot registry!!

I just walked around the store like I was shopping and added everything that I really liked. I went back onto the registry (through the internet) later and edited things. There were things that were on-line but not in the store and vice versa.

Re: Registry... silly question...

FH wants to register at www.lexus.com; www.mercedeszbenz..com
he said that if that was not possible he wanted to list our bank routing & checking number. I told him to stop be silly but unfortunately he wasn't joking

Re: Registry... silly question...

this is what i did and it really worked well for me!

I went to BB&B and looked at the china, crystal etc. just to get an idea of what i liked - but I knew I couldn't register in the store - i always prefer online shopping and i even do 100% of my christmas shopping online

so I went online and printed out this list:
BB&B Registry Checklist
I crossed out the things that I knew I didn't need - then i went through the list and added each item to my registry

i also got a formal AND everyday set of plates, crystal and silverware - i dont think many girls do this anymore but I looooove my formal stuff and I cant wait to use it

GOOD LUCK!

Don't feel rushed!!! I promise you are not behind schedule. I registered now because my family asked me to register before this Christmas and my birthday (dec 21) . . . so instead of getting me something silly I don't need - they can get us something off the registry!

Re: Registry... silly question...

i did a list of the basics/traditional stuff - pots, bakeware, stemware, flatware, etc.

we went to the store, registered for that stuff AND stuff we just saw/wanted.

our registry was really a work in progress. it's been a month since my shower and i'm still editing it!
