Registry stalking question

I don't want to know when my shower is but I'm nosy with my registry.. so far only a few things are coming off here and there.. I'm going to stop looking this week (i hope) but those of you who had your shower did you find that people bought stuff in advance or closer to the week of?

I havent had my shower yet, but two things have come off it. Anyway, I assume that the closer it gets to your shower, things start to fly off. Thats a sure giveaway

like the week before I saw alot more stuff coming off, but I already knew when my shower was so it didnt really blow the surprise

as soon as the invites went out, stuff was coming off like crazy... and then there was a huge lull where it didnt change for weeks/only 2-3 things were bought... and then crazy again the days right before the shower for all those last min shoppers

LOL, alot of people brought stuff the day of!! I peeked at my registry the morning of my shower and there was not to many changes, then when I peeked the day after, thats when I saw that most of the stuff was gone.

This is kinda a related question...

If I'm not having a shower (my mom and MOH just can't do it for me), am I doomed not to get anything from our registry? Does anyone ever buy registry items as wedding presents?

I'm feeling a bit sad like I won't get anything from our registry and will miss out since I'm not having a shower.

i think you might get some people to buy from your registry for the wedding.. especially if you're not having a shower?! Maybe u can have a dinner or a get together with close family and friends as a shower like event to make up for it before the wedding?

I would say yes they might. If you have out of state people coming especially! It seems like NY is the only place where money is the 'expected' gift at the wedding.

i know when my shower is (it's a jack and jill) it's in mid july and people have bought several things off my registry- we're registered at macy's and they have had friends and family sales and other kinds of sales. if you're registered there your registry consultant could've called your parents to let them know about important sales!

i am one to shop last minute for showers so i bet like 2 days before your shower you will find everything being fulfilled
