Registry Timing Question

Registry Timing Question

When and how are you going to 'release' your registry to people? We are sending out 'Save the Dates' in early June (got them, they're awesome!!!), with a list of hotels nearby at which we've reserved blocks. On the little envelope with the magnet in it, I thought I would print

'For Wedding Information including Registry, visit www. . . . . .'

Other ideas? Is that too early . . . I tend to think it might be, but then again, those who know they can't come might gift then, and we can get an earlier handle on the final list for invites.

This is where I'm clueless, so any help would be great!

I think putting it on your wedding website would be appropriate but otherwise I think information about your registry is either through word of mouth or when your bridal party throws your shower they include the little cards.

I wasn't going to register too early because I know some items get discontinued, but we are having an engagement party in june and people have already asked if and where we are registered. My plan is to set up a small registry at one store for now and just rely on word of mouth. For those who asked I will let them know. Then closer to the wedding I will add more to the registry and maybe set up a second one that will be included in the bridal shower invitations. I think the idea of putting a link to your wedding website is a great idea.

I think I will include the cards with the bridal shower invitations, I don't want to register too soon bc things get discontinued

We registered for our e-party so we put the registry cards in the invites... all of our guests were asking us where we registered right after we got engaged so we figured we would put them in there. It came in useful around christmas because a lot of family and friends got us gifts off the registry.

Thanks Ladies! I think we'll just put it on the website, but not point anyone toward the registry specifically . . . . then there can be word of mouth but no one feels like we're steering them there so far in advance. I really only want it for the shower, in any event!

Thanks again!
