Registry Vent

Why do people buy things that are not on my registry? I mean if i wanted them then I would have put them on. It's not like I don't have enough stuff on there. I am glad they like what they bought me but I don't! Has this happened to anyone else????

Do you have enough stuff on your registry? In different price points? Not too long ago I had a friend's shower to go to and she had all cheap $20 stuff on there so I put together a basket of all summer outdoor tableware since I knew they had a big backyard and loved to bbq. Maybe people are doing the same for you?

I agree you need to have all dofferent price ranges. And also sometimes things arent avaiable so they get you something close to it & then they figure you can return it to get the one u want or who knows u may actually like the one they gie you better.

I mean people are going to get you what they want to get you. lol. But good point maybe your price points were off?

Funny that you say this...I JUST had his convo with my mom tonight! I admitted to stalking and finding that 2 different people bought me 2 different collinders than I registered for....what was wrong with the one I wanted???

Oh and the random purchase of a black towel...when I registered for browns & golds..weird!!

My mom says that sometimes the older women just get what they want to get whether its on the registry or not. I feel your pain

Thank god for return policies!!

This happened at my eparty. Someone got me a salad spinner.

I don't cook

and I def don't eat salads

and she knew that!

But its the thought that counts....as well as the cash back BBB return policy.

You know what it could be too especially with BBB registry. Alot of there stores dont have registry items in stock and maybe they bought you a diff version of what you registered for b/c the one you wanted wasnt in stock?

Re: Registry Vent

i got a few things that were different than the ones i put on the registry... someone got me a roasting pan - there was a roasting pan on the registry but the one they got me was cheper and less elaborate than the one i registered for. this happened a few times... i do find in Bed Bath and Beyond sometimes if you cant find someone to help you, it gets confusing to find the exact item so people may just go my Brand and not the sku #... but i hear you... i want what i registered for, not a variation of it, or something completely different!! ugh..

BTW...sometimes, if someone buys something else that isn't on the registry, say for themselves..and they dont tell the cashier it ISN'T on the registry, it will become part of the registry...(which is why it is actually a good idea to check your registry , so you can take those things off) -- I got 2 bags of Swedish fish at my shower...my friend bought a bag for herself and they got added to my registry so people actually saw it on there and threw them in with our gift!! LOL!!!!

I dont know.. I usually will only get something off the registry if it is someone I am really close with so I know what they would or wouldnt love.

If I do not find something on a person registry..then I will get a gift card to that place or money..I dont buy another gift that was not on their registry.
Dont get me wrong I will be happy with any gift that someone takes the time out to buy but for instance...
One of my maid of honor told me that she is not going to buy anything from my registries because she doesn't see anything that she likes....I said that it is not for you it takes time to do a registry and there is a reason why it is that particular color...to make a long story short..she still went and brought what she wanted....they will buy what they want to buy...

Re: Registry Vent

Its the old people that screw everything up!!! Ive been noticing alot of people asking me questions like, 'what are your colors?' 'I saw the cutest thing online that I am getting you for your shower!' Umm that cute thing you saw online better be at BBB, Macys or Crate and Barrel bc if its not, I dont want it!! lol jk

Apparently my mom told me that back in the day before the wonderful world of registries, women would try and find out what the brides 'colors' were for the different rooms in the house so that they could buy her the aprropriate color sheets, towels, etc.

I mean I registered for items that were in the median price range and I also added higher priced items for people who split gifts and also added cheap gift for those who cannot afford much. My shower is in a few weeks and not alot of stuff has been purchased so I am worried.
