So I finally registered at BB&B with FH (shocking!) and my mom knew we were going, and bout 15 minutes after we got back home, she already left me numerous emails complaining that we were NUTS for registering for the things we did (she named the $350 Margaritaville Blender as the biggest offender, also called out a $100 Tempurpedic pillow and $50 Nautica beach chair). I will admit, I let FH scan what he wanted and some of these items he said he wanted to go home and think about. My mother was so upset, said her family members won't spend anymore than $50 per person, and that I am looking like a prententios b*tch by even putting these items (which I highly doubt anyone will buy for me).
Am I totally crazy for doing this? She's making me feel bad about putting anything on my registry.

Nope not crazy we did the same thing. We even put different versions of the same things. Ie $495 knife set and a $99 knife set. Give people of big list of options and let them choose. Just make sure you have inexpensive, average and then the more expensive items. As FH and I say we registered for EVERYTHING we wanted. What people don't buy for shower and wedding gifts will be gifts to eachother or christmas gifts or whatever like my china which is very expensive but I really want it.

Re: Registry Vent
I think you should register for whatever you want! On average, I thing most people spent $50-100 on gifts at my shower. But I got the occassional $200 and up gift. Also sometimes groups of people buy gifts together so why not register for more expensive items!

Dont want to attack you but sounds like mom is way out of line here. Theres nothing wrong with that margaritaville blender -its freakin awesome- and the price isnt that bad - very close to the kitchenaid stand mixers that most of us have registered for. Keep your registry how you want it- more than likely youll change things on it anyways. Its good to have all different price points on there ..

Re: Registry Vent
i'd tell your mom to STFU.
tell her that if no one wants to buy it, they wont... and that you can get a discount later on.
plus, as a lot of others said... people do group gifts.

Re: Registry Vent
I just re-read my mom's email. I was so mad when I saw it I didn't read it all. Get this....she asks me where the Dyson vaccuum is. Yes, THE vaccuum that costs $499....more than any of the other fun things on my registry.

I wouldn't stress if I were you. Honestly, it's 'Wish List' people have a choice with what they wanna buy you. It's not like your walking up to them demanding these things. If you want it just scan it and see what happens, whats the worse thing that could happen.

Re: Registry Vent
I think you should register for what you want, just make sure you have a range of items. We have items from $2 to $300 with the majority of them falling in the $30-$50 range.
At the end of the day, nobody has to buy you things that they don't want to buy. But you get a discount after your wedding if they aren't purchased, so why not put them on there! That's my opinion.

Re: Registry Vent
I don't think there is anything wrong with what you registered for!!! Infact, FH and I registered for the margarita maker and someone bought it for us!!!
Remember, your registry is your wishlist. Your guest can choose whatever they want off of it to buy. And your mom might be surprised - i think people will spend more than 50! People spend way more than that on our engagement gifts even!!!
