Registry-who did you use?

i am wondering, what stores did everyone register at? I think i am deciding between Macys, Bloomingdales or Fortunoffs..I thought that Fortunoffs had a large china/crystal selection, but i heard recently of people having problems in dealing with them ...any suggestions, pros/cons about these stores? Thanks!

Registry-who did you use?

I`ve actually heard a lot of complaints with Macy`s. I registered at Fortunoff`s - so far, no problems. When it gets closer to our date, we will also register at Bed, Bath & Beyond. (mainly for our family members and friends that don`t live near Fortunoff`s)

Registry-who did you use?

I registared at Fortunoff, JCPenny and Bed Bath and Beyond. I like Fortunoff best it was the easiest to registrar at but they did make some mistakes and we go doubles and in some cases triplicates. Bed Bath and Beyond discontinues items frequently so that was troublesome I needed to constantly update it but I did so online alot which was easy. JcPenny I did it all on line which was easy and people can buy from the catalog. By far most of my gifts came from Fortunoff because of the convience and gift wrapping. Hope this helps. Registaring was fun.

Registry-who did you use?

I registered at Fortunoff and Bed Bath & Beyond. What I liked about both, is that they have tons of stuff...I had no problems with either store and my FH had a great time with the electronic scanner. You can also buy and update online with both. My aunts in Florida and upstate NY both ordered online, because they are not near a Fortunoff. What I did find out after I registered was that Macy's was about $.50-$5.00 cheaper than Fortunoff in my place setting...not too big of a deal and I liked dealing with Fortunoff better.

Registry-who did you use?

We have or will be registering at three places. 1. Fortunoff's for fine China and Crystal 2. Bed, Bath and Beyond - housewares, bedding, and our everyday dinner ware and drinking items 3. Crate and Barrel - for some fancy cooking items and kitchen gadgets. All three have online registries, so I check them to update them every now and then. Only bad thing about this is I am a big snoop. So once I start to see the items being purchased, I'll know my shower is coming up!!

Registry-who did you use?

We registered at Macy's and Crate and Barrel. I know that a lot of you registered at Fortunoff and I've heard both good and bad things about it. The reason I did not register there is due to the fact that I have a lot of family members that are coming from out of town and I have not found the fortunoff webiste to be that user friendly. The do not show you pictures of everything so you can't really see what it is that you are buying if you are buying on-line. The reason I liked and registered at Macy's is b/c you can update everything on-line by simply registering you and your fiance on their site. You can even start your registry on-line w/o goin into the store which is also great for us busy working gals. The only drawback to this is that not everything that is in the store is on-line. I'd recommend registering on-line first and then making an apoitment at one of the stores so that you can have a scanner and scan everything else. Crate and Barrel has things that are a bit more fancy and that people like buying. We registered here b/c on this site you can update and add things to your registry as well. Don't let this overwhelm you. I'm sure you'll make the right choice. Good luck with registering and remember to have fun b/c after all that's what it's all about itsn't it! vickfl77

registries

Macy's, Crate & Barrel and Wiliams-Sonoma. All three (plus more) are available online at weddingchannel.com so my guests only have to visit one site (for online ordering)

Don't use Macy's

When I was first engaged I received a decorative piece of china that was not my taste. Went to Macy's to return it and found out that is was currently on sale for $130. I waited on line forever to get an exchange credit. Much to my dismay they issued me a credit of $55 dollars. After much debate I was told that because I did not have the receipt they would arbitrarily give me that amount. They had no explanation why. This is completely unacceptable. Essentially, Macys is making a profit of 75 dollars for nothing. They will turn around and sell the item i have returned for $130 dollars!! On top of that I can only get store credit, assuming they make a 50% profit on everything they sell, they have just made over $100! Totally unethical! Even worse, everyone I encountered from saleslady to store manager was disguistingly rude. When I asked for the number of the district manager she refused to give it to me. For this reason I absolutely refuse to ever buy anything from them - never mind register! Sorry if I sound like a crazy lady but this sort of customer service really irritates me. I plan to register at Pottery Barn - not sure where else.

Don`t use Macy`s

thank you all very much....I did like fortunoffs, but just heard a story about a friend who registered for china that was discontinued and they didn`t tell her...and also about someone who ordered a gift and they charged her card and the gift never arrived in time for the shower....but it sounds like most people like fortunoffs. i think that i will stick with them and probably crate and barrel or pottery barn. Thanks!

Registry

We used Bloomingdales and Crate & Barrel, and I thought both were great! Bloomingdale's was especially great with returns & customer service. Plus, I thought, for us, the selection was perfect. They had all the brands we were looking for, whereas Fortunoff did not. Good luck!

Registry-who did you use?

We registered at Fortunoff, Williams Sonoma & Michael C. Fina. Also at Crate & Barrell, but when we originally registered there they were not yet done with their registry web site, so I got annoyed and decided not to tell anyone about my registry there. Also, they discontinue things there since they are seasonal. Michael C. Fina has been wonderful - very nice and helpful.

Don`t use Macy`s - same problem

I was given a cake dish for my engagement that I returned. The gift giver mistakenly left on the price so I knew it was $100. When I went to return it they gave me $55 of which I got the same story. I was so annoyed I needless to say did not registrar there.

Macy's positive note

Items go on and off sale - every week. I reg. at Macy's and had no problems at all. In fact someone by accident took off my luggage on my registry and I never received it. I went to buy it and now it was no longer on sale double the price (I told them that I thought someone had bought it for me) and that is why I have waited to purchase it until the day I am leaving for my honeymoon (they gave me the sale price)50% off I saved over $400.00 - I returned many items (they checked my registry and they know exactly how much someone paid for each item and gave me that exact item. For every bad story there is always a good one to go with it. Macy's and Fortunoff are the most convienent for your friends and family and they know them and feel confortable shopping there - that's why I picked them. (no problems with either one)
