I havent done it - BUT I did look into it.... This is whatI found out.... Reglazing it MUCH cheaper and LOOKS GREAT... There is a place called Glaze-Tec - A friend used them and OMG it looked like it was re-tiled and new tub... Now the fitters - like bath-fitter - much more expensive, but looks nice also..

So if money is an issue - Do the re-glaze - I was going to but we decided to gut the bathroom and thats ONLY because we got a deal on the labor part of it....

I hope this helps...

We chose re-glazing. It was not expensive and made a huge impact in our bathroom. We had the tub and all the tiles in the bathroom reglazed. It's been about a year now since the work and so far, so good.

I had my tub reglazed and it looked like new.
although I had a leak in the faucet and it did cause some of it to start chipping.

Thanks so much for your responses. I think we will look into reglazing for now b/c I want to redo the bathroom tiles and kitchen tiles.
I will look into that Glaze Tec. Thanks again

the reglazing, where they paint another layer ontop----- the previous owners had it done on our house and it is peeling be careful who you pick...... tub fitter for the tub without the wall was 1,100. for the standard basic one from the company affiliated with Home Depot

Sure. Here is our before nastiness (which is almost embarrassing to post, but this is what it looked like when we bought our co-op):

And here is after:
