rehearsal dinner....2 part question

rehearsal dinner....2 part question

My rehearsal dinner is going to be very large! We are taking 45 people!!!
I just checkout out the library cafe for rehearsal dinner and it's $32++ per person for beer, wine and soda.
It will come out to about $2000! I feel like that's alot no??

So my first question is what's a good price per person? And would it be bad or tacky to have a cash bar?
Be honest!

That's a good price. I'd say 30-35 is a good price for a party. Im just going to run a tab because it's usually less than adding it to the per person price. Not everyone drinks as much as you think they will.

$32 per person is a good price. And I'd do what Jaime suggested, run a tab (that you will pay) because it does end up being cheaper than adding a bar package. About $2000 is average for a party.
All that being said, this is why I'm not having a rehearsal dinner, lol.

I guess I was thinking it was a lot bc it's not a 'party' it's dinner but for 45 purple I guess you're right!
If I do the soda package it's only $24++ per person!
I will deff think about the tab idea thanks

I think my future MIL did the beer and wine with the package, but now that I think about it I might just tell her to switch it to not include anything and run a tab. My dad is pissed because he doesn't drink beer or wine and liquor isn't included haha

Were having one but small. Only bridal party and immediate family and readers. It'll be about 25 people after significant others are invited. FH's parents have offered to pay for it since she overheard FH and I talking about it and got offended and was like 'isn't that something I'm supposed to do?' So originally we said backyard, cater some food from our fav Italian place.. But now she wants it in a restaurant. Whatever lol.

That's not a bad price at all. I've heard much higher. Def run a tab, it'll prob save you a lot since I don't think its really a drinking event.

Ours is only the people involved in the ceremony and spouses.
It's us, parents, fh little bro and sis, readers, signer (and parents. It's my cousin who is 14), & then we have an 11 person bridal party that's 22 right of the bat.

FH is the manager of a place in oakdale that has beer wine and soda for a similar price to the soda only package price you mentioned

I think that price is the norm but could you host it at someone's house? Just because the church requires a rehearsal doesn't mean you need to do a traditional dinner if it's not in the budget. You could just invite people back to the house and keep it casual.
