rehearsal dinner

rehearsal dinner

I want to find out if my FH's father is going to be paying for the rehearsal dinner (I know that is usually the tradition). We do not know how to ask w/o being blunt. Is there a tactful way to ask?

Hmmm tricky. I would have FH ask and tell him that is what traditionally happens but is not expected. Just say you need to know for budget purposes....money talk is always difficult

I agree. I know it isn't the best subject but if approached the right way then i think it is ok to ask straight out.

Make sure to approach in the we are not expecting it but wanted to know so we can budget is the best way IMO.

Good Luck!

I am writing FIL's a detailed list of what they traditionally should be repsonsible for. I will be taking it to them, sitting down with them and talking it over. If there is a problem then its out in the air and hopefully we can get it resolved. I plan on doing this in July, our wedding is in Sept.

Wow...I think it's nice how you are asking. FH & I just walked into FMIL's house and I said we booked an appointment at Shandon Court, do you want to come so you can put the deposit down? We both knew she wasn't going to volunteer it so we went a head and made the appointment and she came with us. LOL...we knew we had to be blunt!!!

I wouldnt ask and if you see he isnt mentioning it I would leave it alone and pay for it yourselves....You cant expect things unfortunatley

I feel like he may not know or even think of booking a place because he has never had a child get married before. I will def. have to go with the theme of we are wondering because of our budget.
thanks!

Hmmm.. I personally have a hard time going by the traditional 'who pays for what' list.. These days i think its more common for the bride & groom to pay for most of, if not all, of the actual wedding as opposed to bride's parents, so I personally couldn't expect FH's parents to cover the RD.. If they offer on their own, great, but I'm not holding my breath

Yeah...we are paying for EVERYTHING other than my mother putting the $1000 deposit on the RH. It would be nice if he paid for the dinner! If not, I think we are having a May BBQ!

yeah we are paying for EVERTHING other then the $1000 deposit my mother paid for the RH. I was just hoping he would take us somewhere nice... if not I think we are having a nice May BBQ in my back yard!
