Rehearsal Dinner

Rehearsal Dinner

Has anybody started to think about this yet? If so where are you looking into?

Im trying to keep ours very small. No more than 30 people, and thats just the bridal party and Immediate family.

I also want to spend no more than 20.00 per person. Does anybody have any ideas of places on Eastern LI that would be good options for this?

TIA

Re: Rehearsal Dinner

We are having the RD at King Umberto's restaurant in the Toscanini room. It holds up to 60 people. And since FIL's are throwing it we will be having a few of the OOT's there so it wil be about 40 people.

Do u want dinner? Maybe you could get that kind of price for a brunch? I say checkout Alias Smith & Jones in Oceanside. they have great rooms. All dfferent packages. Seventh Street Cafe in Graden City as well. Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice.

I think we may be paying for this ourselves. Im getting ready to call mom so see if she can take this one or a least help with a chunk of it.

Our RD will be on a Wednesday and I think we prefer to do a dinner.

There is a really good place in the east meadow area called Jani's its Japanese/Chinese food, but the decor is really nice and should be affordable

Re: Rehearsal Dinner

I'm still debating this...my grandmother actually went to culinary school, and literally lives 2 blocks from the church, so I was thinking she might be able to host it for us....but at the same time, I want her to enjoy herself.....the restaurants I like are far from the church which is in manhattan. I like a few places in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn and also some in City Island in the Bronx....as you can tell, I've thought about it a whole LOT !!!

Re: Rehearsal Dinner

our church has a multi purpose room and we are having pizzas, subs, wings...stuff like that to eliminate costs at a restaurant.

I would like a backyard BBQ for the rehersal dinner to cut cost, but I dont think FMIL is going to go for it.

We have started looking at prices for RD and $20/person is a really low budget. I am looking into places for lunch for 40 on a Saturday afternoon and so far my lowest quote is around $32/person. Is there a family member who would let you use their home and you could have food catered for $20/person or less.

I just made a quick list and I am at 40 people with just immediate family and bridal party. That isn't including any grandparents or oot guests. And I am thinking we are going to be paying for this ourselves. What am I going to do? I need a cheap place too or do a backyard party.

I also just made a quick list at 40 people is where we are with just the bridal party and immediate family. With 20 per person we'd be at 800, which in my situation is alot since we're pretty much paying for the entire wedding including the RD.

Id prefer not to inconvience anyone by asking them to do it at their house, however that was one of my first ideas. I also like the idea of looking into the church multi purpose room. We could get it catered and decorate it nicely. I just want a place where FH and I, the family, and the bridal party can gather after the rehearsal, eat, relax, and give them their gifts.

it can be hard to find a place for $20pp, most charge about $30 and up...but doesnt mean there arent any places out there that will do it for $20pp. Just might have to do a little bit more searching but it can be done.

A couple of girls on the 08 boards have said they got it for about $20-25 per person at a pizzeria/restaurant. I think some said this place in LI called papa joes they got a great deal

also alot of girls i remember saying they got better prices at a chinese food restaurant.

We are going to price the place we really want to have it tomorrow. If we can't have it there we have to keep looking. I would love to find a place $20 pp.

If I find a place in that price range I will pass it on to you. I also thought of using the church hall but my church charges $500 to rent the room and I would have to set up and clean up myself and I do not want to do that the day before my wedding.

I haven't started thinking about this yet, but I know this will be a pain for my wedding since the rehersel dinner will have to be on a Thursday and since my wedding is at a private club so I will have to schedule my rehersel around the members' events. I would also like to keep it at less than $20 per person.

To keep costs down FH and I agreed last week to have a backyard BBQ at his house...we figured it would maybe cost us about $200-300 and maybe have everyone bring something..... We probably would have about 30 to 40 people...
