rehearsal dinner

rehearsal dinner

FMIL has generously offered to host the rehearsal dinner. (another thing i don't have to be worried about).

however, since i am a little crazy & love to have lists of everything i set up an invite list for the RD.

this is who i included:
me & FH
my parents
FMIL & date
FHs grandmother
4 bms & dates (1 is married, other 3 in serious relationships)
5 gms (no dates, none of them r dating anyone)
my brother, SIL & 3 kids (flower girls & ring boy)

so 22 adults & 3 kids.

yesterday out of the clear blue FH said that the BMs can't have dates at the RD & that my brother, SIL & the kids aren't invited. he only wanted to include the adult bridal party. after i argued with him he allowed my cousin (BM) who is married to bring her husband. but my sister & 2 other cousins (BM) can't bring their boyfriends.

as for my brother, SIL & the kids he says that, my parents don't even invite them out to restaurants because they don't behave. (which is true but i feel bad for not including them).

what the heck am i suppose to do???

i came up with 2 ideas: 1. being that i hand everything over the FH & FMIL & have nothing to do with it. 2. i told FH that we can have the rehearsal at the church & then only go out to dinner my parents & FMIL.

advice please!!!

Re: rehearsal dinner

I would tell your FH that u will invite ur brother and sil but no the children, just explain to them that it is FMIl and she does not want children!

22 adults and 3 kids does not seem bad at all. But I guess I would just go out to dinner with your parents and FMIL after the rehearsal, no drama can come out of that. You don't want anyone getting upset if they weren't invited to the RD and other people were.

I don't know if cost is an issue, but I think you should invite everyone. We are inviting the entire bp with guest/spouse. We are even inviting a few aunts and uncles (parents of the cousins in the BP).

Sorry you have to deal with this now. My sister didn't even invite my FH to their rehearsal dinner. I know this was last year before we got engaged, but still, we were together for 2 years already.

If it's a cost issue, then I guess you don't have to invite dates.
