I have been to very few weddings and never been in a wedding party so I am clueless with a lot of things in the planning process. Is a rehearsal dinner necesary, and if you are on a budget could it just be wedding party and immediate family having dinner? What exactly do you do at a rehearsal dinner? Thank you girls.

We are on a tight budget and we are doing only those in bridal party and a backyard BBQ. We love to grill so this is normal and probably expected for us.

I don't think it's necessary, especially if you don't have a formal church rehearsal. I'm only inviting people in the bridal party and immediate family (all are in the bridal party lol).

I think it's expected as a 'thank you' to them since they shelled out money to be in your bridal party and sacrificed time as well. If you're on a budget I would do something at home.

In all the weddings I have been in its just the bridal party, parents, and maybe people doing readings but that's usually it.

We're just going to have a Bbq in the backyard and just inviting the bridal party so we can give them their gifts.

We are doing a BBQ too, I actually think it's a great idea! So much better than having to try to scream at each other at crowed tables in a restaurant.

I wasn't sure about this in the beginning either. Our rehearsal is actually at the church and then we're inviting our bridal party and close family to dinner. dinner will be at Anthony's Pizza in Carle Place. It's $13/pp.
