Rehearsal Dinner and inviting bp with guests?

Hey ladies, I need some help here.

FMIL brought up the RD. First she asked me where we should have it and then she said something about Peppercorn's how you need to have 30 people or something or other. Can you please tell me, do you typically invite the bp with a guest if they have a bf or gf or are married? Also, I mentioned my ringbearer and flowergirl to her and she said, 'oh, they will be going too?' You do invite the flowergirl and ringbearer, correct? I mean, they will be at the rehearsal. Nonetheless, my ringbearer who is my nephew, his parents are part of our bridal party.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Yes, usually the BP is invited with their spouse or fiance (boyfriends/girlfriends I think only if the budget allows).
And yes usually the flowergirl or ringbearer are invited to the RD as far as I know.
We're having our parents, grandparents, brothers, officiant, BP w/ significant others, readers, gift bearers, and out of towners (FH's aunts & families) because they'll be in town by then.

According to Emily Post's book on Wedding Etiquette, You invite your BP's sigificant other (wife, fiancee, serious BF or GF) but not dates. You do not invite the flwoer girl/ringbearer.

we are definitely inviting all significant others, esp since most of the bp is from out of town.

I personally think it's important to have the Flower Girls and Ring Bearer at the RD. I'd be much more comfortable knowing the kids were familiar with everyone in the BP and familiar with what they had to do at the ceremony.
God, all this really adds up doesn't it?!

I guess spouses and sig. others should be invited too

Don't get me started on the rehearsal dinner!

Ours is on the verge of being out of control .... it'll be 50 - 75 people. Its an interfaith wedding, so not the traditional go to the church to rehearse and then have dinner ....

We have decided to call it a 'welcome dinner' instead.

FH would love a dinner with 30 people!!!!

Typically, when the Bp has a long time girlfriend or boyfriend OR ESPECIALLY A SPOUSE that is not in the Bp they should be invited to the RD. . . And we had 2 RB and 2 FG and they were all there as well. In addition, my FI (now DH) grandparents were invited (his grandfather was a speaker...[Speakers are invited to] and my cousin who was not in the BP was there with her husband, because she was a speaker. My FI aunt and uncle came too because thats my MIL's sister and her husband, and all their kids were in The BP! it also worked out well because my DH 2 sisters were in the Bp obviously and so were both their husbands
worked out very well . . . not too many people, not to little. . . . BP. their spouses, parents, speakers and their spouses. . .

Hope that helps!

I agree, I would want them to be comfortable with everyone.

I would assume if you invited the BP with guests that they would also be invited to the RD with a guest.
It's up to you though.

We invited the BP with guest but they all are from out of town and have serious significant others, I couldn't imagine not inviting them.

We are including FGs and our Ring Boy at the dinner, its right after the church rehearsal.

We are also including some out of town family who will be here so they aren't sitting at the hotel all alone.

this is a very touchy subject in my family right now ...my FH brother is getting married a couple of months before us ....and i was just informed the other day that I will not be invited to the RD....my FH is the best man ...i have been in the family for over 7 years now ...and because she doesnt want anyone to come with their significant others ...I am out ....I just have to say that if it isnt a big deal and wont break the bank ...please invite them ...because it is a pretty crappy feeling to be left out of something that everyone you know will be at...i think that if they have been dating the person for say a month or two it isnt a big deal but if they are married or engaged i say you should invite them out of respect ( which obviously my FSIL has none!)
