Rehearsal Dinner Blues

Rehearsal Dinner Blues

So FH and I have been planning on having a RD since the beginning of the planning. This past weekend I talked to my parents about it because it's right around the corner, and my dad tells me he can't take off. My mom is having surgery in mid-Oct and my dad needs to save all his days (which I totally understand) but he won't even be able to take a half day. So I decided that if my dad can't go, I don't want one because its important for me to have both parents there. FH thinks we'll be more than fine. We have a DOC and our officiant of course to help, so he's not worried. How many of you are passing on the RD?

I'm bummed, but not distraught over it.

Could you have the weekend before?

FH and I are not doing a formal RD.

Since we are getting married at the RH, and we have an extremely small BP, our officiant advised us that she will conduct a small rehersal prior to the start of the actual ceremony, just to let everyone know where they will stand and the order they come down the aisle.

As for a dinner, I think we will take everyone out to dinner a week or two prior, just to get the families together and to give our gifts to the parents and BP.

We thought of this, but my bachelorette party is that weekend and it's a sleepover so it's taking place on the 29-30th so it doesn't work.... and the weekend before that is FH's bachelor party...

i'm just concerned that people might get confused and we'll all look like we don't know what we're doing - but again, it's not brain surgery and FH keeps joking wiht me that everyone can handle walking down the aisle. I may be teetering towards paranoid, , no surprise there!
