rehearsal dinner dates?

rehearsal dinner dates?

ok i totally dont think 'dates' should be invited to a rehearsal dinner - but i have read that some people do it - as it is we have a bridal party of 14 - and we are paying for it by ourselves again - if we invited 'dates' it would be for 40 people (about 25% of the people invited to the wedding - what are your thoughts? TIA

You should have put a 'maybe' spot.

I was not in my FBIL's BP but FH was, and I went to the RD. Granted it was a backyard BBQ, but depending on the person's relationship, our closeness, etc., and barring the cost, I may let people bring dates. But I am not 100%, it depends on the situation.

our of the 9 bridal parties my fiance was in there was only 1 that i wasnt invited to the RD none of the BP had a date, I was kind of mad b/c he spent crazy money, it was in New Rochelle so we needed to stay over, and that meant i had to drive up by myself the next day with the other girls b/c none of us were invited.....if the BP is married, engaged, or have long term significant others that you are friendly with I would invite them....esp if you plan to invite them to the shower.

thats JMO though =)

I'm only having my bridal party and the parents of my ring bearer and flower girls -- and our parents of course

Oh I forgot to mention.....if anyone in the BP is married you should invite the spouse, but I wouldnt invite a BF or GF

yeah, i see that point, but in our case, the only ones who are married are family who will come the day of the wedding with the rest of the family - we have pictures the following morning at 8:00 a.m., so the bridal party is staying in a hotel the night before - i know i went to one rehearsal dinner and i felt funny being there -

I am having the same problem. I have a 14 person bridal party and with immediate family and if everyone brings a date its 45 people! Its just going to be so many people!

I have never been involved in a wedding that didn't allow me to bring my 'significant' other to the RD. I have 24 people in my bridal party and I think that there are about 4 of my bridesmaids where their husband/BF/Fiance is also a groomsman. We have decided to include dates to the RD. Granted we are going to be about 55 people at the RD but we don't want any hard feelings or exclude anyone.

I agree with Kristi I think you should invite your bp with dates. You don't want any hard feelings. I am sure they are going to be putting a lot of time and money into your shower, bachelorette/bachelor party, etc.

I think significant others should be invited, with an emphasis on 'significant'. If someone in your BP is in a serious relationship, they should both be invited. I don't think there's any obligation to allow a random date just so someone can bring a date though.

I would say with a BP that large I wouldnt include dates...I would explain to everyone why though and I am sure they will understand. We only have 6 so we are including dates but I so wouldn't do it if I had that many people.

I believe that if you're married, engaged or been in a serious long term relationship...their significant other should be invited. If the person is just a 'date' then no...unless they're OOT and brining an OOT date who would be all by themself at a hotel.
