So my parents are paying for this for us, which I just found out bc we are paying for the rest ourselves (what a random thing to pay for, right??).
Anyways, my mom asked me how much we thought that we would be spending. She paid for the RD for my sister and she had like 60 people there because her husband is from Peru and a lot of his family came so they invited them. Needless to say, her bill was pretty steep. I told her that I would have about 40 people there and it would prob be around $1200 (from what I've researched so far). So she responded 'Really?? That much??'
I told FH and he was pissed! He said that if she is going to offer to pay for something then she shouldn't be setting limits, and if she is then don't bother, we will do it ourselves. I thought that $1200 was reasonable, considering it included everything, so I was kind of taken back by her astonishment.
IDK what to do. I have time but I don't want to assume she's paying for it and then get stuck with it at the end. What do you ladies think?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner DRAMA
I have no idea about RD.. never been to 1 and prob wont have one. But for the amount of ppl with everything included it sounds reasonable. Since you have so much time befote the RH rolls around sit down and have a talk with your mom. Ask her what kind of budget she had in mind. Then ask her what places she has in mind to fit her budget. Maybe u will find somewhr cheaper or if she suggest places not to your liking then maybe you can do either of the following.. have her pay what she budgeted for and you pay the difference or if shes setting too many limits or making comments/complaints then tell her thank u for the offer but we'll pay it ourselves. Honestly, $1,200/40 people equals $30/person.....what does it include? That really does not sound so expensive to me! How much was she expecting to pay?

For real, that's super cheap! && I would save up for it just in case, wouldn't wanna get stuck with it at the last minute..

It's for a 4 course meal (appetizer, salad, a choice of 4 entrees, desserts), assorted breads, an occasion cake, open bar, a champagne toast, and some other foods, plus the service and tax. I thought it was good!

For that amount of people, it does not sound like a lot. I agree with the other girls I talk to your mom about it and then if you guys can't agree on anything then just pay for it yourself. FH parents are paying for ours and I am dreading this discussion so I can relate.

This stinks, sorry you have to go thorugh this. Let your mom know the breakdown and if she isn't comfortable w the amount which I think she will be once it's broken down, ask her to give u in cash what she expected it to be and maybe you guys can pay the difference ? Good luck and let us know what u decide!

Awesome price. Mom doesn't have to pay. Sometimes I don't think they realize how they sound when they speak. I always say 'This is what I am doing..if you would like to contribute that would be great'.
I would be done with this entire process if I allowed others to dictate my day.
Break it down per person. She should be okay.

Never assume unless they hand you the $$ ahead of time. I wouldn't book something else and max your budget thinking this is paid for.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner DRAMA
i agree with the girls who said to break it down a bit. IMO, we are having RD with just bridal party, their significant others and immediate family. Is that who you included, basically? Like, are there people you can remove from list in a compromise for mom? Either way, it is a really great price! Maybe have her shop around on her own to compare
