So my fsil are throwing our RD because my FH's mom is very ill and won't be able to come to the wedding. So other than telling them who my out of town guests should be, I have been told that they will handle the details.. They have decided to have the RD at the restaurant FH and I own.. now I love our place, but by having the party there, we will be 'on' the whole time - and also part of the clean up crew when party is over.. Anyway, I called my FSIL to tell her that I was handling the cake for the RD.. I tell her.. I have it .she's welcome to get her own, but that I was having a cake made.. I finally tell her that I am ordering a special grooms cake shaped like a Cheeseburger and Diet Coke (FH's favorite things) and she says..'well what flavor because the irish people coming to the party don't like any fancy cakes.. No comment about my surprise.. I'm just annoyed by the whole thing... sorry needed to blow off some steam. Just annoyed because the RD will be more work for me the night before my wedding ../.UGH Nothing like a bride cleaning the toilets after her RD..LOL.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Drama LONG..
Its nice that she's doing this for you but in the end its your wedding, your RD. Just like if you parents were paying for the wedding, its nice and all but its still your day. You should tell her that you don't want to have it at your own restaurant. Im sure you eat your own food everyday--pick something different. And how can she assume all Irish people don't like fancy cakes? Sorry to be mean but she sounds a little ignorant.

Thanks for your advice. Your are right.. it is our day.. not her's. I need to figure out how to approach it with my FH.. he is very protective of his sisters.

My FH is the same way with his sisters and it drives me nuts! We have gotten into sooo many arguments over them. They can do no wrong in his eyes. So now I just dont mention them and when I see them I keep coversation limited and basic (ie the weather, hows school, ect.

I would just tell him straight out that having it at your place isn't the best thing for both of you. It needs to be in a place where you two won't have to do anything. Don't blame his sisters, just explain that the two of you shouldn't have to do anything after the RD except go home!

I think you try talking to them about it. . .you really should have the chance to relax the night before your wedding. While I am sure that their heart is in the right place, its really not fair to you or FH.
And I think the cheeseburger / diet coke idea is hilarious! Where are you getting it made?
