Ok so I always thought the rehearsal dinner was for parents, grandparents and wedding party. I am starting to hear otherwise... Are OOT guests usually invited? Anyone else?
Also, who pays for it? Do we send out invitations?
Thanks =)

What I've heard/seen is the grooms parents paying for the RD and them sending out invitations. I have also heard that your OOT guests should be invited.. this makes me nervous since FH's ENTIRE family will be OOT guests. We might do a dinner with the people involved in the wedding and invite guests out afterwards, still undecided about that part!

I also heard Grooms parents pay for it and had NO idea OOT guests were to be invited. Honestly, we might not do that. We may just keep it to parents, siblings and BP, otherwise will get out of control.
Yes! I would def send invites.

Very usual information. But how would I go about letting my FH family know that they would be in charge of this part of the wedding? Since my FH and I are paying for the majority of the wedding.

I'm in the same situation! How do you say - so.....you know you're in charge of paying for this right? LOL
Also - i'm getting married at my RH and they don't really have rehearsals. It will be a pretty simple event. And i have the bridal party coming from all over - NJ, Brooklyn, PA, upstate NY and FL. I can't imagine them wanting to come the day before when they're already spending money on a hotel the night of my wedding. I have a late-ish wedding time, so everyone could potentially come in that morning from their respective areas. I dont know how to go about gathering everyone for a rehearsal dinner. has anyone experienced NOT having one but having another thank you gesture - besides their gifts? I'm at a loss!

I've heard you should invite OOT guests. I don't have too many, so if we decide to have a RD we will probably invite them. We are paying for our rehearsal dinner, but out parents contributed pretty much the majority of our wedding budget, so we don't feel right asking either side to contribute more than they already have.

How early are you all having your Rehearsal dinner? I'm planning to have it a week before so we won't have to invite OOT guests lol

This! Only my wedding is on a Saturday and I'm having my rehearsal dinner on Thursday. I feel like I'll have a lot to do the night before plus I'm having an afternoon wedding so I don't wanna be out too late. My cousin had it two nights before as well just for the sake of having a calmer night the night before.

Oh, and I'm not inviting out of town guests, it would get too expensive. It will just be my immediate family, bridal party and ceremony readers and anyone with a significant other will be welcome to bring them. I wasn't sure how I was gonna broach the subject of paying for it with my FIL's but luckily they just mentioned to FH recently that they're paying for it so that's a relief.
