Rehearsal dinner in Queens

Rehearsal dinner in Queens

Does anyone know of a great place to have a rehearsal dinner in Queens, preferrably in Bayside or Flushing? Is this dinner suppose to happen days before wedding, weeks before wedding, or month before wedding? Are you girls having your rehearsal at the place of ceremony first before dinner? What about the brides that are getting married at a catering place, are they allowing you to have a rehearsal there? I've been in two weddings and they never had a rehearsal dinner so is one nessessary?

Rehearsal dinner in Queens

We did our rehearsalat the church & then dinner on a Thursday night - we were getting married Saturday at 11:00am and wanted to relax and go to bed early on Friday. We had the dinner at Donovan''s in Bayside (just off Bell Blvd.) They have a private room in back. You have to supply your own cake but the food is very good. My first choice was Monahan & Fitzgerald''s which is right across the street from Donovan''s but it was booked that night. They have a really nice private room upstairs and the food is great there too. I believe you''d also supply your own cake there as well. A rehearsal dinner is not 'necessary' but it''s a really nice way to thank everyone in your bridal party and give them their gifts. Plus if any members of your bridal party don''t know each other it''s a nice time to introduce them beforehand. If you are concerned about cost, there are many other ways you can do it at home - a pizza party, barbecue, drinks and hors d''ouevres...it''s the gesture more than the money spent. Best wishes!

thanks Elizabeth

I've seen and heard of both places. I'm gonna check into them soon since still have time to plan since we still have 2 months for the big day. Bell Blvd has lots of bar/private rooms that will do for a rehearsal dinner. I'm just trying to figure out how are we gonna go to Woodbury,LI then go to Bayside for dinner. Does that sound too complicated for the bridal party?
