My FMIL was wondering what the head count might be for the rehearsal dinner, and I realized that I have no clue! So here are my options... do we:
1) Mail separate invitations for the rehearsal dinner (and if so, do they go out around the same time as the wedding invitations - or before or after)?
2) Put a separate card inside the wedding invitation informing people of the rehearsal dinner (and if so, would guests respond to both the wedding AND the rehearsal dinner on the RSVP card)?
3) Phone people to invite them to the rehearsal dinner (and if so, do I call before or after the actual wedding invitations go out)?
4) Any other ideas???

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites
I think I'm going to send out schedules for wedding things (the rehearsal dinner will be on that schedule) to everyone involved in the close preparations for the wedding. I'll probably mail out the schedules a month or two before the wedding and then call them or talk to them in person to remind them closer to the wedding.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites
We mailed separate invites. I picked invites from Vista print for the RD (we had about 25 people)

I would mail separate invites. If you put it with the wedding invite it might confuse things.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites
I never even thought about invites for the RD - we're only inviting our famiies and BP, so we just told them about it among the other plans... I hope no one's expecting one; I don't really need another project

it never crossed my mind either until today... my fiance and his parents were trying to figure out how many people we'd have for the rehearsal dinner, and with so many out-of-towners we have well over 70 people!!!
based on the poll, it looks like we should do separate invites for the dinner (simple ones!)... so now i wonder...
do we send stamped RSVP cards, or should we have people RSVP over the phone??

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites
I would say phone / email RSVP is good - in case people assume you know they're coming to the RD b/c they sent you back the RSVP for the wedding.
I'd even start calling people if they don't respond by the due date; they should realize not eveyone is invited to the RD so you have to have the exact #. I'm pushy and impatient, though

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites
We have a similar situation but we are just going to call people/e-mail instead of working on another invitation etc.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites
You can get inexpensive ones. Even do the print your own ones from target. Just do phone/email RSVP. But NEVER put the RD invite in the wedding invite. People would assume that everyone is invited to the RD then.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites
I mailed my BP their invited to the RD. I just wanted to make sure they all the info - in writing and in hand! Of course, 1/2 of them lost it before rhe RD anyway

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites
Since we will have a lot of guests invited to the RD I will be sending out separate invites, but you could also do e-vites!
