I bought these invite cards soooo long ago but haven't had a free moment to write them out. Are they necessary? Are you girls doing them? If not, how are you informing people (via phone)?
If I do use them I have another question:
the card is titled 'rehearsal dinner' and it asks for time and place. Do I write '7PM at St. Dominic's Church, dinner to follow at Maine Maid Inn - 8PM?'
Or - '8PM dinner at Maine Maid Inn ....following 7PM rehearsal at St. Dominic's Church....?
How are you girls doing it?
P.S. - there may be some people invited to the dinner that aren't really necessary at the church....

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites - necessary?
Since my MIL paid for my rehearsal dinner she sent out invite cards. DH and I have been in several bridal parties and I say only about 50% of the time did I or DH receive an invite. I think it is all personal preference. I personally like no invites because I like laid back rehearsal dinners - where you sit back and have fun...invites make it more formal in my opinion.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Invites - necessary?
I guess it depends on how many people you are having. If its just the parents and bridal party, I think its ok to use word of mouth or a simple email. I've seen this done plenty of times. But if you plan to invite out of towners or you just want to add that special touch, I would go for the invites.

I don't think it is 'necessary', but it is a nice touch. My FMIL will send them out about 6 weeks before. We chose a more funky informal invite.

Not doing them. We have a small BP and everyone who needs to be there knows already.
