Rehearsal Dinner- Lessings - The View - Feedback?

Thinking about booking The View (Lessings) for our Rehearsal dinner- does anyone have any feedback? Pro's, Con's etc?

I have eaten at two Lessings owned properties and did not like the food. I felt like it was severely under seasoned and had no flavor :(

We had our our RD at the Library Cafe which is also a Lessings property. The food was very good, however, our cake order was not right....the flavors. I don't know if that was the cafe or the bakery.

I went to the view to look into having my rehearsal dinner there. The guy basically laughed in my face and told me there was no way he'd book a private dinner on a friday night...that he'd be turning away so much more money he could be making if it wasn't for my party. How rude!

Ugh I agree! Where did you end up booking? We are getting married at St. Patricks in Bay Shore and at a loss for RD places-

Molly Malone's in bayshore is really nice and they accommodate groups.

My FBIL got married in St. Pat's and had his RD at Toarmina in Commack. There's a lot of good restaurants in Babylon too, Post Office Cafe, Argyle Grill, etc.

Molly Malone's has HORRIBLE food. FH & I were just at a communion party there and the food was severely under seasoned and some were overcooked. Also we were in the room directly when you walk in and they split the room in 2 to accommodate 2 parties - which wouldn't have been bad if we hadn't had to walk through the OTHER party to get to the one we were going to. I felt so rude every time I had to use the (SUPER) tiny bathroom!

I'm getting married at St. Pat's (I went to school there my whole life) and am up in the air about having it someplace or getting it catered at my parents' house (5 minutes away). It depends on what type of food you are looking for and how many people you are looking to have. I would love to have it catered by Mama Santina's (Brightwaters) because I love Italian food. Milk & Sugar is great too.

I think the View is perfect for a RD!

Just to add...another south shore idea is Captain Bills....they have really good food.

We went with 21 Main on Main Street in West Sayville. They have an adorable room upstairs with its own bar, bathroom, and balcony!

21 Main is fabulous! We had an anniversary dinner there, so good.

I had dinner at Molly Malone's once a few summers ago and thought it was pretty good.. maybe they aren't good for parties. We did have my uncle's funeral luncheon there in April though and had the room upstairs entirely to ourselves. The food was buffet style but we all enjoyed it. My aunt actually had a small wedding there too a while ago and it was good. Maybe it was bad because they were overcrowded that day :-/ which might happen again if you go on a Friday nite.

That could be. It was a Sunday (I think) but there were 2 or 3 other communions when we were there.

I'm having my rehearsal dinner at the View. We go there in the summer for dinner and drinks. They have great food. A restaurant and a RH are very different, so I wouldn't go by how the food was at another lessing property. In my experience they were helpful and nice when we called and when we came down to look around and book. I do know they have a set schedule for when they do events (ex. Sat they do small weddings). Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for the feedback! Where are you having it (in private room, main room, outside etc.) and how many people are you having? We are not that big, 34 people invited.

We are having it in the area near the windows all the way across the restaurant. They have moving walls to kind of close it off. Also the booths that are there are movable, so they will be gone. We are having 40 people.
