My FMIL finally said that the FILs will take care of the Rehearsal Dinner (after my parents said they would do it if need be!) we want it simple at the church in the social hall even but FMIL doesn't want to do that but she did say she needs some help with finding a venue since she is out of state.
Can I just give the moms each other's phone numbers and step away from the planning? Should I?

honestly, I just had my IL's pay for it, while I planned where it was. If there were questions about the menu I asked MIL her opinion, but other than that it was easier to do it all myself.

also wanted to mention, the FIL's traditionally pay for the rehearsal dinner, but if your parents wanted a role in it, maybe they can split the cost of it. Just my two cents...

I think you should kindly voice your opinion on what you were thinking about doing for the dinner. No matter who pays, it should be in a setting that you and FH feel most comfortable with.

Yeah unless you don't care and WANT them to do it, you should still have a say. . I mean same with the wedding right, if b's parents are paying it shouldnt mean she has no say, right

My IL's paid for the rehearsal dinner. DH and I planned everything since they are OOT.

thanks we are hoping to keep it relaxed and not formal at all... my parents were saying they would pay for it because they felt we shouldnt' pay and the IL's were dragging their feet until we point blank asked them.

We planned the reheasal dinner at Palmers in farmingdale & FIL's gave us a very generous gift of $$$. I even sent out invitations - sample in album.

My IL's are paying for the RD but I chose the restaurant and menu. We didn't have too many options bc of the location of the church and we wanted it to be very close. I researched the 3 places in the area and chose one.
