Re: Rehearsal Dinner POLL
I'm having a fairly relaxed rehearsal dinner that will also serve as a welcome dinner for out of town guests. I think we're just going to have beer, wine and soda.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the cash bar. Some of your guests may not be prepared or able to purchase their own drinks.

our package includes beer, wine and soda. if anyone wants a drink, feel free to order it and pay for it yourself.

We don't have a huge number of people coming, so its going to be a tab. FH parents paying for it though.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner POLL
I posted this on BHB, my MIL decided to run a tab and she paid it at the end of the night. Most people stopped drinking after the first hour of the party.
If you feel like your FILs have done a lot, would you and FH be able to contribute to the cost of either beer/wine/soda or whatever you prefer to have at the RD?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner POLL
mine was structured so most of the drinking was done in the first hour also- they passed hor douves and had an open bar
the bar stayed open all night- but it slowed down
but my Hubby and my Dad are both licqour drinkers- so it was a must
plus my ILs paid- and it's all they paid for

Re: Rehearsal Dinner POLL
Our rehearsal dinner is the night before the wedding, so we are just having an open tab. I don't think anyone is going to go too crazy with the drinking. At least I hope they don't!

Re: Rehearsal Dinner POLL
I think ours includes wine, beer and soda. Most of us should be fine with that and if not, they can pay...we are doing a lot for our OOT guests so I don't think it's a big deal to have people pay if they want liquor.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner POLL
After a HUGE fight back and forth, FIL's are paying, FH didn't want them to tab it and hosts pays, because he felt his family would take advantage (the out of town guests are invited, and 99% of the OOT are her family) we got her to agree on beer, wine, soda. I think if you know you don't have alot of 'drinkers', then tab it and hosts pay works, but if you know that's not the case limiting it to beer, wine etc could help keep costs down.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner POLL
I was told to look at my guest list and figure out what everyone is likely to drink. For example my mom drinks wine, the best man drinks beer. I calculated who I thought would drink what (and how many) and compared that to the per person charge for open bar, beer, wine & soda, and running a tab. If my calculations are correct, we'll be running a tab.

I think beer, wine and soda is good enough. The wedding is the next day and everyone will be really partying then.
