I want to have a rehearsal dinner even though we aren't having a 'rehearsal' per say (our place doesnt do them). Is it OK to still have one just to get together with the BP and parents so we can give gifts and thank everyone? Should we just do dinner at a restarant?
Also, FMIL had offered to pay for it when we first got engaged over a year ago, how do i bring it up to her to see if she's still doing it or if we are. I feel sort of wierd asking her if shes paying, esp since i know she doesnt have that much $$$

Re: Rehearsal dinner question
i think it's definitely okay to have a dinner if there's no rehearsal. make it a 'thank you' celebration for the BP!
with regard to the asking FMIL question, play it safe and just have your FH do it. it won't be so awkward coming from her own son. that's what i did!
