Rehearsal Dinner Question

Rehearsal Dinner Question

Do most people do the rehearsal at the actual place that the ceremony is held (whether it be at the church or a reception hall or elsewhere)? I am having my wedding at Land's End... just wondering if it's normal to ask the reception site if we can run through/rehearse the ceremony there for an hour or so on another day before the wedding.

My rehearsal is at the same place as the ceremony. I think it depends on the schedule of your venue and if they have weddings on the day before. Check with them asap to be sure if you want it there!

I'm in the same situation. I asked my RH if we could do a 'run through' the evening before and b/c they can book another party for that night up to a week before the wedding, I was given an indefinate answer. So rather then wait, I found a restaurant that had a private room. The restaurant actually has a deck off of the room so, we plan on rehearsing there. I don't want to do it the day of. Too nerveracking!

I would call your RH and ask

I saw on here that alot of girls' rehearsals at the halls are just before the wedding ceremony itself, which is good because it eliminates the rehearsal dinner cost, but also nerve-racking and then you see each other before the real deal!! If it were me, I'd get a restaurant room for the BP and do a run-through there, then have something to eat! I would have a smaller rehearsal dinner, because it will be alot of administrative stuff (actually rehearsing) as opposed to a dinner separate from the site. For instance, only the BP will be at the rehearsal, but we'll have about 30 at the dinner. I wouldn't have that big a dinner if we had to rehearse at the restaurant, so all the other guests wouldn't have to sit around and watch.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Question

I have been in about 9 weddings all at the RH. Every rehearsal is done about 1/2 hour before the ceremony begins. It only takes 5 minutes to figure out who walks with who, how to hold hands and where to stand. It's pretty simple and goes very quickly.

I'm getting married at Land's End too! I am not sure they host true 'rehearsals' so I'm just going to run through it very quickly at my RD. We have a very small bridal party so even if we had to go through it the day of, it should be fine.

But let me know if they let you rehearse there...

If you can then its great but if not its not necessary. You can go over everything at a different site... walkign down the aisle... where everyone stands, the readings, recessional, etc. We are probably doing it in my parents backyard and having a BBQ.

Alot of RHs dont really have a 'rehearsal'before the day of the wedding, usually they have a quick run thru right before. You can always call and ask them

If you are having it at a church then yes, your rehearsal would be at the church-this needs to be booked wiht your church

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Question

Ideally it would be best to have your rehearsal at the same place of your ceremony but sometimes reception halls charge extra for that. You may want to find out. We ended up having our rehearsal somewhere else to save money. It worked out for us b/c our rehearsal dinner location was closer to the rehearsal place anyway.
