My fiancee and I are having a destination wedding -- on Long Island. 95 out of our estimated 140 guests are from out-of-state or the country. The remaining are my folks and their friends.
As tradition with destination weddings, we wanted to invite the out of town guests to the RD. Our rehearsal is the day of the wedding so it is not really a RD anyway.
We are not sticklers for etiquette... Printed our invitations on our computer and used wedding theme address labels. We aren't using limos or a videographer. Still, the cost of this wedding is spiraling out of control.
This RD was the one thing we wanted to do by the book but I think I need to give up on it. The price is just too high.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner stress
I don't know if I would consider what you're doing a destination wedding. It's a nice idea to invite all 95 guests to the RD, but then you're essentially having a second wedding. We're in the exact same situation and we're just inviting the BP to the RD. It would be too much otherwise.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner stress
Maybe buffet style with no alcohol would be cheaper? Or a rehearsal lunch instead of dinner? We are not having a RH for financial and stress reasons, it’s just not worth the headache IMHO. We had an engagement party and preparing for that was a really stress filled pain in the a**

Or perhaps not have a RD and have a brunch the day after the wedding.
Just an idea?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner stress
I am alos having a ton of OOT guests and my issue was with the limos. Since most of the OOT are FH's immediate family, I felt obligated to get them around (to church, to my mom's for post-ceremony, to the reception), but it woas going to cost THOUSANDS extra! I had to say BP only and not feel guilty!

Re: Rehearsal Dinner stress
Yeah I think we are just going to have to pare down to bare minimum.
