Hi- Here's the story. My church assigned us a rehearsal time of 8p the night before the wedding. So I'm debating whether to have the rehearsal dinner before or after the actual church rehearsal.
I would really prefer to have it earlier since I don't want to be sitting at dinner til 11p or whatever the night before my wedding. I want to be in bed!
But since the rehearsal is on a Thursday, I also don't want to inconvenience people further by having the dinner too early. Although, I think our families and bridal party would totally understand and be fine with either option.
So would you have the dinner before or after the rehearsal?
And what time would you actually suggest for the dinner?
Thanks in advance for your replies!!

Re: rehearsal dinner time -- what would you do?
I think it will be nice to relax after the rehersal b/c then everyone can just hang out, have a drink or two and get all excited about your big day on Friday!

If you can find a restaurant for your dinner that is pretty close to your church, I would do it before at 6:00. I agree with you, you don't want to be eating dinner at a late hour. And because it's the night before your wedding, you want as much time as you can get to unwind and get a good night's sleep! I think if you have to do it at 5, people will totally understand and they will be there. Most of my BMS and family are taking the whole day off from work the day before my wedding. They will understand and they will do whatever you want!

I hear ya... I wouldn't want mine that late either. There's no other option for the rehearsal time?

Yeah, maybe you can change your rehersal day even? do it the week before maybe, just an idea. I think either time would really be fine, keep in mind not supposed to drink before going to rehersal.

Re: rehearsal dinner time -- what would you do?
Hi Sarah- no, unfortunately, my church only does rehearsals on Thursdays for everyone getting married that weekend, be it Fri, Sat, or Sun. And we only booked the church a few weeks ago (we only got engaged on Valentine's Day so are having a fairly short engagement).......so basically, we are low man on the totem pole, so to speak, in terms of getting a good rehearsal time.
I'm just basically thrilled we were still able to get a good mass time, so I'm just trying to make the most of it overall.
Thanks to everyone for their replies so far!!!! Please keep voting! This is very helpful! -Carrie Ann : )

I would have it before, at 6. I wouldn't want to be out too late the night before my wedding, I'd want to be sleeping!

okay... so I know it's not traditional, but I would say to do dinner before at 6. Of all days in your life you don't want to be tired, it's your wedding day!

We are in the same situation, although we are pushing ours to a week before, but it is still set for 8pm (w/ 2-3 wedding rehearsals set for the same time---first come, first served). My FIL's don't want to make a 6pm dinner b/c they feel we should relax & enjoy the dinner & not have to rush (I agree), but we'll have kids there & also don't want to eat dinner at 10pm at night. We may just have the dinner on a separate night than the rehearsal.
