Two pedestrians were killed when they were struck by a car as they crossed Jericho Turnpike in Syosset Thursday night, Nassau Police said.

Jose Flores, 26, of Huntington Station was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry eastbound when he struck the pedestrians who were crossing the four-lane road after a wedding rehearsal dinner at Testarosa Restaurant at 10:43 p.m., police said.

Phillip Christopher, 74, of Miller Place was transported to Nassau University Medical Center with multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:14 a.m. Dorothy Christopher, 68, suffered head and chest injuries and was transported to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. She was pronounced dead at 7:16 a.m.

Flores' vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection and no charges were filed.

Not for nothing, but I am a healthy and swift 32 year old woman, and I would NEVER cross Jericho Tpk in that area!

What the heck were these 2 older people doing??? And wasn't there any parking at Testarossa???

This is so sad.....

I know that family

The couple getting married was in my pre-cana sessions. The bride's dad was(and still is) my dad's best friend from childhood. Her parents actually introduced my parents to each other.

The family is devstated and the bride is blaming herself for what happened because she chose to have it at that restaurant. I'm going to her wedding ceremony tomorrow. It's going to be so sad.

i feel truly awful for the family/friends of the bride and the couple killed. truly awful..

they are re-doing the parking...a salon used to be next door and i suppose they finally bought up the lot and are using it for more parking but in the mean time, they might be low on parking....but i agree...no one should be crossing that street, especially at night.

Weer they grandparents? uncle/aunt?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Tragedy...

They were the bride's aunt and uncle. But the thing is, the bride's father lost his parents when he was 18 so his sister and her husband (the ones that were killed) basically stepped in as parents for him. Sure he was already an adult at 18 but still.
