Rehearsal Dinner venues near St. John's University, Queens

Hi Everyone:

Does anyone know of any good restaurants to have a rehearsal dinner near St. John's University in Queens? We're getting married at the school and I wanted to do some thing around there so everyone doesn't have to drive all around....

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.

There are plenty...how far do you want to go. There are a bunch on Bell Blvd whcih would be perfect for a RD. Uncle Jacks ( a bit pricey)...Bourbon Street (wold be very good)...there a sushi/hibachi place if everyones into that and would be fun. There's a bunch more...I think a greek place and also a regular american style restaurant a little more down on Bell, also a good Italian restaurant and Tequila Sunrise. Closer to St Johns, theres Fame Diner right across the street which has a seperate area for parties (I think I am having my shower here)...there's CARA M*I** A in Queens Village which is one of my favorite restaurants...(also where FH proposed and our first date, lol) Ummm...I believe this restaurant Dantes is still open and it's right by St. Johns on Union Tnpke. A lot of these places have seperate rooms which would work for a RD. For more reception like places, theres Whitehouse (I think its still open)...there the Adria hotel which has a ballroom for parties, theres Verdis in Whitestone (good food and do a nice party) and I think my last suggestion is Reception House on northern blvd. There's a ton more places I'm sure and also if you go a little further into other areas of Queens, the possibilites are endless really. Good luck!

I second Aquista's. I went to St. John's for law school, and this was a great restaurant, and you can walk. Very very good.

Depends on how many people you are having but I definitely recommend Acquista Trattoria (I was a take out regular when I was a student!). Also Dante's is excellent. The Sly Fox Inn is also a very nice resturant right across from campus.

Acquista - 178-01 Union Turnpike
And they have a new webiste with their party menu! (718) 969-1411Acquista Party Menu

Dante - 168-12 Union Tpke (718) 380-3340
Very old school italian. No website LOL

Sly Fox Inn - 177-23 Union Tpk (718) 969-8169
They also have a website: Sly Fox Inn

If you want to stay close to SJUI would say Sly Fox. In college I planned a mothers day brunch there for the girls in my sorority and their moms. It was about a week before mothers day. Anyhow the women who is the hostess was my contact person and she was GREAT! They gave us our own room and it was a very good price. The food is also very good there I have been there a million times.

Aquistas and sabatinos (sp on both) are both also very good food.

If you go straight down Union Tpke into Hollis Hills I think (a little ways past the CIP) there's a great restaurant called Luigis, they have a really nice back room, we are thinking of having our RD there.

That is so cool that you're getting married at the school! Are you using the chapel for the ceremony?

Vino on Union Turnpike is a few blocks from St. Johns and they have a private room in the back.

Okay sorry random, but I totally remember this brunch, I'm sure a lot of sororities did this but I specifically remember a couple of my friends were in Gamma Phi Beta and it was the morning after the EXB formal which I went to and they were all rushing around to get ready with their moms to go lol. If it was that one I know a few girls who I just love from that sorority funny if we know the same people lol.

DWKSwed - did you go to St. John's? (I went there and now I work there!)

In 2004 they actually built a whole brand new church, St. Thomas More Church (you are probably imagining the tiny old Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel...which is office space now LOL) If any of you ladies went to STJ, and haven't seen the new church yet, you should definitely come check it out. Its incredibly beautiful...

I have to agree that the new church is AMAZING

I do think that it's not as traditional as I would like, which in a way makes it more beautiful and stands out, anyway though that's one of the reasons we're not getting married there, FH and I met at St. John's.....
