Rehearsal Dinner/Pre-Party...advice

Rehearsal Dinner/Pre-Party...advice

So, Im considering doing a rehearsal dinner and 'pre-party' for a few reasons. #1, we are having a Sunday wedding so an after-party, even something informal like at the hotel is out of the question, #2, Im not close with my family and so even if I did have a Saturday night wedding and had an after party, they would want to be there and in all honesty, I want to just let go and relax with our friends and I wont be able to do this with them there.

Soo, we are considering a rehearsal dinner/pre party the Friday before the wedding. Even though my family would actually be at the rehearsal, they would understand that they wouldnt be coming out to a club/lounge type thing with the younger crowd. Ok, so we would like to have the dinner and then have an open bar for about 2 hours and a place with a dj and has dancing. I need your advice first on what you think of this idea and secondly, on suggestions for places that might offer a deal for us to pay a certain amount pp to have the open bar. This would be for our bridal party, us and their dates. This will be 20 people and between dinner and the open bar, we would like to stay at $100 or UNDER per person. Do you think this is doable?

I was thinking along the lines of Cavo, in Astoria since we could eat dinner first. (I havent checked if they would set up something for me in regards to an open bar)

Looking in Nassau, Queens, Manhattan

PS. i guess some might think is rude toward the parents but again, we are not close and it is an mutually understood thing so there really wouldnt be an issue

TIA!

I think this sounds like a great idea! I like the idea of a pre-wedding party. It will be a nice chance for your BP to hang out with you guys, kind of like a Jack and Jill bach-party.

As far as places, I have no clue as I am really bad at these things. When you said $100, did you mean total or per person? I don't think $100 is realistic if you are having 20 people, that's $5 each for dinner and an open bar. Maybe you can get a cheaper price than average if you just have appetizers and cocktails.

Oh Marjorie, you gave me a good laugh!! hehe, no i meant $100 per person. I know that especially for the city or even Nassau and Queens, a pre-fixed meal with alcohol or atleast beer and wine could very very easily be 40 or 50 dollars ( this is even on the low end) and then i figure an open bar for 2 hours might be anywhere from 30-50 dollars so thats where i came to a max of $100. Im glad you think its a good idea. Thanks!

LoL
I think some restaurants would be willing to work with you on price since they are taking a big hit with the economy. Almost all restaurants are doing deals and promotions.

Gabrielle's in Rockville Centre has a delicious price-fixe dinner for $30, but does not include drink. It's a cool lounge like restaurant, that has a bar as well. There is a place on the Nautical Mile in Freeport that has an amazing like eight-course prixe-fixe meal for $25 I think that includes a glass of wine, and they have a bar there as well. I don't know the name but I can find out.

Good Luck!

i would do island or central or cavo for dinner and drinks. then as u go dance.. if they want ot continue drinking then its their responsibility.

i wouldnt do it after the rehearsal. i would just take my friends out a week or so b4 that.

and make sure that ur church is available for that friday..and its not booked for the person who is having their ceremony on a saturday.
