I just found out that my best freind which is one of my BM cant come. I think the excuse she used is lame and I'm dissapointed(pissed) that she wont be there. Should I be upset with her? What do they have to do anyway?

Re: Reherdal Dinner, What if they dont come?
I would be upset. When you ask someone to be in your wedding they know that entails certain commitments of which 1 of them is the RD. I could see if she couldn't stay for the dinner BUT she should really make it her business to be at the ceremony rehearsal.

Re: Reherdal Dinner, What if they dont come?
For me it would depend on the reason for not coming. If she was from out of town or just couldn't get off of work I would understand. If it's to sit at home I would be annoyed. Either way I would be disappointed she couldn't be there.
I understant it's a responsibility & commitment to be in a wedding party, but I didn't expect anyone else's world to stop for our wedding.
If she can't make it, just let her know when she is walking up the aisle and where she has to stand/sit during the ceremony. We didn't rehearse anything and it was fine.

Re: Reherdal Dinner, What if they dont come?
One of my FI's friends is not coming and is in the Bridal party...they are getting married a week after us though...I'm kind of annoyed because we had to cut our honeymoon short so that we can be back on a Thursday to attend their rehearsal dinner on Friday (they are getting married that Sat.)..His excuse for not coming to our RD is that they need time to move their things to Pennsylvania ..no offense..he currently lives there and she's the only one that needs to move in..I feel that if we are making a MAJOR effort, they should have...plus she doesn't need him (who's in the BP) to move..he could still come solo..
So, yes, I guess I would be upset...if the excuse was not good enough.

It depends. - Are you getting married on a day she already has to take off ? - My friend got married on a Friday, obviously I took the day off, but her RD was on Thursday and it was tax season and I just could not take the day, and as hard as I may have tried I KNEW I wasn't going to make it back to Long Island from the city by the rehersal time of 6:00 ........ Or is her reason really just lame ?

I had a BM that couldn't make it either. She lived out of town and married so she couldn't be away for long (she came in the night before the wedding). We just explained where she had to stand and to just follow the other girls. I was pissed at first but then I got over it.

Re: Reherdal Dinner, What if they dont come?
Her excuse was that she has to work that day (Hello its at night) and she might be tired. Its two months away and she knows NOW that she's gonna be tired... Well I forgot to mention that she just found out she was pregnant so she is preparing herself of how she will feel when she's 3 1/2 months pregnant. Come on.. Give me a break! I'm sorry pregancy is not a handicap. She has not felt sick or anything but she says that she doesnt want to be anywhere she's not suppse to be (just in case)... Please .....

if they don't come...more food for the rest of you
If they don't come to the rehursal at all, just make sure someone tells her what to do. Like how slow to walk...where to hold the bo-k (in front of the belly button mine were told) and if they need to bow in front of the altar if you're in a church. Otherwise, it sucks and is dissappointing and I would be pissed too but what can ya do? You got more important things to worry about.
ETA: just read about her being preggo. Yeah sounds like she's gearing up for being tired. Just say 'listen why don't you wait until it's close to the rd date and then let me know what you want to do becuase it's easier to take you off the dinner reservation than to add you if you decide you are coming'.
Don't forget her hormones are wacky now that's she's pregnant...no excuse to give an excuse now but definitley don't take it to heart.

Thanks maybe your right. I just really think its other things other than her being prego. Its funny that sometimes you find out how people really are once it comes close to YOUR day. Some friends stay right behind you and others seems to stray the happier you get..
Thanks again!

We just found out that FBIL isn't coming to ours. It's more important for him to go to Florida for his fiance's brother's b-day than to actually play his role as best man, and twin brother, to my FH.

Do not be too upset. My friend got married in NY and I was flying in from California. I hadn't seen my parents or sister in six months and really needed some time with them. So I told her I came in a day too late(since the rehersal was two days before the wedding). I didn't have a problem the day of with knowing what to do but I did feel really guilty
