Ok. So my original idea to have the rehersal dinner at my parents house BBQ style to save money has been shot down by the 'rents. So... I was thinking of renting out the room at the hotel we will all be staying at. We are allowed to cater in so we figured it might be good and then we can invite all the OOT guests and make it casual. The only problem is they don't allow us to bring alcohol in. So is it ok to throw an RD without alcohol? Or do we need to look for somewhere else again? There is a bar in the hotel and one right next door so those that want to drink can choose to do so after the rehersal dinner.... What do you think??

Re: Rehersal Dinner?
its definitely fine~you dont have to have alcohol. If you want it then find out if they will allow you to have a bartender in the room for a fee~of course it would be one of their bartenders. If not then you can just go down to the bar when dinner is done etc.

If you think its okay- then it should be okay. You know the guests you are having and what you can afford etc. So if it is what you want- then go for it!

Re: Rehersal Dinner?
I think it depends on the family. I know FH would not allow it and I come from a big Italian family where wine is just mandatory at any function. So look at the people your inviting and see.

I think that if someone can't stay away from alcohol for 1 hour, they have serious issues. (and that's coming from someone who is marrying into an italian family, lol) Yes, you are celebrating, but like you said...there's a bar in the hotel. After the RD, you can head over there for a few cocktails. I say BOOK IT!

Re: Rehersal Dinner?
Thanks ladies! I would like to have it but we cant afford to if we cant bring it ourselves.... which stinks. I am from a Big Italian family but like everyone said it will be 1-2 hours then everyone can go hang out at the bar if they want. I dont want everyone getting wasted the night before anyway so they well be less likely to get out of control the night before if there isn't an open bar on us.... LOL! So maybe it will work out for the best.
