should you invite your officiant to the rehaersal dinner if you are not having an actual rehersal before hand?

I am not planning on inviting him. This might sound or be wrong, but I am treating him like any other vendor. I don't know if I am even going to invite him to the reception.

I am inviting my officiant to the rehearsal dinner, but I am having the rehearsal the night before. We are also inviting him to the reception, however, he politely told us that he would only stay for a drink at the cocktail hour.
I guess it just isnt necessary to invite him if you are not having an actual rehearsal...
