We are not having a rehersal since we are getting married at the hall. Do we still need a dinner? Although I'd still like to have one as that is when I was planning to give BP gifts & Parent gifts. We are also paying for this ourselves.
These are my options:
1. Have something at my house like maybe a BBQ on the Thurs. before my Sat wedding since I wouldn't want to have something on Fri. after I have had my nails done.
2. Have something out although most places would only do it on a Thursday.
We would have about 21 people as well as 2 kids.
although option 1 may be the least expensive way to go it is also the most work as well as worrying about the weather and the fact that I couldn't fit all those people in my house comfortably if it did.
Opinions please? I have 34 days til my wedding & haven't even thought about this until today!
I am VERY stressed today!

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
i think you'll be stressed enough as it is preparing for saturday that you may not want the extra burden of preparing food on thursday. you could do a casual dinner on thursday or friday at a place like bertucci's or something similar.

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
Could you have members of the BP help you with a BBQ at your house? If not, then maybe going out to a restaurant is a better idea.

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
We are not having a Rehearsal either. But FMIL insisted on hosting the RD anyway. We are having ours the night prior to the wedding....
I would suggest something out on Thursday or Friday, simple but out --- so you don't add any stress to your schedule.....

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
FH told me that it would be worth the money to not have the stress of doing it all at home.

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
maybe you could spend the money for the food and have it at a parents/sibling/BP persons house???

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
Just thought maybe grab a couple of sandwich/heros and some buckets of fried chicken, a frisbee and some blankets and head to the beach. Or maybe go out to like Jillians or Dave and Busters and have a fun time. Not a stuffy dinner.

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
Hmm, I really like the idea of a bbq at home, and this is what I think I want, but I also think that the convenience of a restaurant would be nice. So I say, if money is not a prob, go for the restaurant. I like the idea of Jillian's or a place like that.

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
What about a Chinese buffet???? I am sure it will not cost too much and you might be able to get the party room at the same price or a section of the restaurant.

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
i would second everyone and say don't do it yoursefl at home - between cleaning and cooking, it will overstress you! you could even go with a chinese buffet place if you want - they are usually $10-20 a person and always fun!
good luck - we aven't even started thinking of rh dinner details yet!!

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
I am in the same situation. I am being married at the reception site. I decided that I would have a BBQ, but then realized that since my wedding is in april, it may SNOW. Anyway, since we are also paying for our own wedding, we decided that we would have a cocktail party. We will serve appetizers and drinks and dessert.
This way, i can still be with my bridal party and i'll be able to give them there gifts.

Re: Rehersal Dinner Opinions
Thanks everyone for all of your help! Although I still would love a BBQ for that nice & casual atmosphere along with it being the least expensive route I think we will be doing a dinner out at a restaurant which can still be relaxed and alot less stressful then doing it all ourselves.
It is not that money is no problem but the problems that the stress could cause are so worth spending the extra $$$. Thank God FH agrees!!!!
