Re: rehersal dinner question

I've read that it's nice to invite people who are in town the night before, if they've come from far away.

I have heard that you are to obviously have the wedding party and their guest(I am not inioting their guest), any out of towners, and your readers and grandparents.

We are inviting our parents, bridal party, readers and grandparents. I also invited my aunt coming from out of town. I know it is proper to invite out of town guests, but how in the world are you supposed to know if they will be here. This has proven to be a pain. We don't know everyones itinerary so we kind of said forget it and just invited the above mentioned. I am not going to call all my out of town guests to see if they will be here.

Re: rehersal dinner question

To be honest, I've always known a rehursal dinner to be the parents, the wedding party and the readers and of course the bride and groom. It's to thank those that are participating in the wedding. If you want grandparents there too, nothing wrong with it.

I don't feel that you need to invite out of town guests, unless they are staying with you or your family. But if you can afford it and especially if it's going to be in the hotel restaurant that they are staying, then perhaps you should as long as it's not becoming a 'mini reception' (JMO).

ETA: I can't have my OOT guests come. There's 20 of them (so far) coming and it's just not monetary feasible for us. We are paying for our own rehursal dinner. We will have my 2 cousins who are staying with my father that week join us, but that's it.

Re: rehersal dinner question

If you want you can break it down to the must have list and the it is nice to do:

Must have - are the parents and grandparents of the bride and groom and the wedding party and their spouses, and readers.

Nice to have: Out of town guests and dates for the wedding party (the non married/non engaged dates)
