Rehersal dinner questions----HELP

OK ladies I have many questions regarding the rehersal dinner I have no ideas about many things....

Who pays for it? Bride and Groom?

How many people do you invite?

How many did you invite?

Who do you invite?

How many days before the wedding did you have it?

Is it necessary?

....or any other things you could think of

Anyone can pay for it, but usually is the parents of the groom. It is not mandatory to have. It's up to you. Normally you invite the bridal party and their sign. others and anyone involved in the wedding ceremony. You can have it a week before the wedding or the night before or a couple days before. There is really no rule to this. It's really up to you. HTH!

Traditionally the groom's family is supposed to host and pay, but it's not always the case. FH and I are paying for ours. We're inviting our parents, the bridal party, our readers and we're extending the invitation to the priest. We're having ours the weekend before to avoid feeling obligated to invite OOTers. It isn't necessary at all but its a nice gesture and it's like a really big thank you to everyone whose participating in your special day. It doesn't have to be anything big, we're having it at a restaurant only because neither my parents or FH's parents house its roomy enough to accomodate everyone, otherwise I'd be doing it at home and cooking! HTH and GL planning it if you have one!

I think that typically the groom's parents pay for the RD. We had ours at my inlaws house.

We invited probably 40 people?

We invited immediate family, any OOT guests, bridal party, and extended family that lives close by (ones who come to all usual family functions).

We had ours on 7/12 - wedding was 7/14.

Ours defintiely wasn't necessary since it wasn't even really a rehearsal (we rehearsed the morning of), but it was really a lot of fun!

It was very laid-back, casual atmosphere... and time to spend with everyone before the craziness of the wedding. We gave out our bridal party gifts and had the groom's cake too.
