Rehersal Dinner-Yes or No

Hi! I am having my ceremony at the same place as reception. I asked if I needed to do a rehersal and they said no. Should I still do a rehersal dinner? I am getting mixed reviews. ; )

We are not doing one. Our rehersal is the day of like an hour before the officiant said. Plus bc its the Sat. after 4th of July and people are busy. Even my MOH won't be able til come in until Friday.

You aren't required to do a dinner, but I think it's a nice touch...

Since you don't have to do the rehearsal, you don't have to do the dinner. However, you could use this as an opportunity to do something a little less traditional, like have a pizza party, BBQ, or go to Dave and Busters with your Bridal Party.

We're having a rehearsal, and we still want to do something a little less traditional, but FIL's are paying and they're quite traditional.

We are having our ceremony on site too, but we're probably still doing an RD because we have a lot of OOT guests

Our ceremony is on site as well, so we won't be having an actual rehearsal til the day of. But my inlaws really want to host a dinner for us, so we're still doing one. We're probably going to call it something along the lines of Pre-wedding Celebration or Get-Together, just so the immediate families and bridal party can have some relaxed, quality time to enjoy each other before the craziness of the wedding.

We are getting married at our venue and want to plan an informal dinner for family and BP at a BBQ restaurant or brewhouse... Something along those lines.

We're just having a small dinner at home with our families and bridal party 2 days before the wedding. That way we can run through what's going to happen that day and at least have a general idea. The actual rehearsal wont happen until the day of the wedding about an hour before so for us it really isn't practical to have a rehearsal dinner at a restaurant.

FH and I are not having a bridal party and are getting married at the venue so probably will not have a RD.

We got married at our venue as well...and did a RD more for the out of town guests to get together and for us to spend time with them since they traveled such a long way and we only had a short weekend to spend with them. Also some people in the BP never met so it was a nice gathering.

Plus some people had never been in a wedding...so we did a quick 10 minute rehearsal as well there at the restaurant.

I'm getting married on site as well. My in laws insist on having a rd although it is not necessary. I'm not sure if I will get time off before so we will see how it goes. I feel like they should save their money. Or put it towards something else for the wedding but that's just my opinion! They are planning to do it at a place I don't even like. I guess its the thought that counts!

For everyone doing the rehearsal the day of - does that mean you will have a first look with FH before the rehearsal/ceremony? Will you actually run through what to do in full outfits or just be described what to do?

Edited for spelling*

We'll have a first look but I'm not joining the actual rehearsal that day, I'll just wait in the bridal suite with my parents. All we have to do is walk anyway, it's more for the bridal party since they have to know their places.

Yeah I can't decide - either a brunch or just a casual dinner the night before!

We are getting married in a church so we are having a rehearsal but we arent doing the formal rehearsal dinner at a resturant. We are going to have it at my parents house and just get trays of food from my uncles deli. We have about 35-40 ppl so a restaurant would be crazy expensive. We figured something at home is much more personal anyway. You could always do something small and personal like that, but I dont think you have to have a full rehearsal dinner. Its completely up to you.
