Rehersal question

Rehersal question

Is it necessary for the organist to be at the rehersal? The church we're getting married in said he never goes to the rehersal, you just give him the songs the day of the wedding. I think that's crazy ! I'm paying for the church & an extra $200 for their organist & I can't even hear the guy play. What do I do?

I would ell them you would feel more comfotable is the organist was at the rehearsal. I am bringing my boom box, with IPOD for my ceremony music!! But you should get them, but don't be surprised if they want more $$$$$$$$$$

Re: Rehersal question

I think my church charges for the organist to be at the rehearsal -- but the first time we met with the Pastor at church the organist was there and played a sampling of diffrerent songs -- we still have to decide but maybe catch the organist after a Sunday service and they can let you hear parts of songs. That is what ours said he'd do for us. Hope that helps.

Re: Rehersal question

Call your organist and set up a meeting with him a couple of weeks before the wedding to pick out your songs & finalize everything. Ask to meet in the church (maybe after a mass or something so the organ is already on) and ask to hear samples of the music. That way you'll know what he sounds like, he'll know what you want for your wedding, and then you won't need him to come to the rehearsal.
