Relationship with FIL's?

What's everyone's relationships with your future in laws? I love mine - they can drive me a bit crazy sometimes - but they're all great people.

My FFIL passed away 3 years ago but I had met him a couple of times when FH and I were dating. He was really funny and now I know where my FH gets his personality. As for FMIL, shes ok. She is a very quiet and shy person and I havent really bonded with her. I dont want to sound mean but I really dont have an opinion on her which kind of ***** but what can you do??

I have to admit, i am lucky when it comes to the in-laws dept. They are great people, and i have no real horror stories.... (at least no yet!)

I have a great relationship with all of them. MY FMIL and FSIL can be PIA but I love them. They are all crazy which is hilarious to be around. I've known them for about 4 years and they all treat me like I'm part of the family already. So I guess I'm pretty lucky!

FFIL is quiet and very nice. Unlike FMIL, she can be very controlling. She doesn't like me and the feeling is mutual.

I don't really have much of a relationship with them. His whole family lives in upstate NY (syracuse and buffalo areas).

When we were dating I went up there a bunch of times but even then I didn't hang out much with them. They think I'm very quiet, but that's just because I feel like I don't know them very well so we're still in the awkward meeting-the-parents stage after 5 years, haha.

LOVE the FMIL, she is the cutest. Her husband (FH stepdad) is a little 'eccentric'...he thinks he's Elvis, no joke. He's got the sideburns and everything and they sing professionally. But he's still a great guy. I just hope he doesn't want to sing at the wedding, lol

FMIL - I have to say it was a rough start, she didn't like that any other woman was in her 'little baby's' life...but after 71/2 years we do have a great relationship (sometimes)

As for FIL ...never really had much of a relationship with him, I love him - he is a sweetheart, In other words I see him when I see him.

My FMIL passed away a couple months ago, it's hard to plan a wedding when my FH taked about for years, dancing with her and now she's not here. My FFIL doesn't say much, he's not always in the picture. I always wished i had cool, talkative loveable in laws.

FH's mom and dad are divorced. He hasnt spoken to her in years, I keep telling him he has to call to tell her he's getting married. (So, in other words... I have the ideal mother-in-law! She doesn't even know I exist.) FFIL and his wife are nice. Strange though, we've been going out almost four years and FFIL never told me to call him by his first name. So he's still Mr D to me. Does anyone else call FILs Mr and Mrs? I feel like it's so strange. My parents love Mike. His car is broken so they left him one of theirs and offered to lend him the money for a new car. He's marrying into a great family!

After more than five years they're still Mr. & Mrs.! I don't know how I'm going to feel about the switch over to.... Mom & Dad?!?! Is everyone else making the switch to that?

Re: Relationship with FIL's?

my FMIL and FFIL and FSIL used to all live in the same house as me, so sometimes it was a bit hairy, but 99.9% of the time it was awesome. I love them all (and FSIL and I even treat each other like real sisters...we fight ALL the time lol)

however, my parents and his parents are not really the best of friends... but we always say to each other that we're not marrying our parents, we're marrying each other, so the relationship between the parents shouldnt mean a damn thing, and it doesnt. :)

The strangest thing is that his new wife was introduced to me as 'Rose.' So it's Rose and Mr. D... really weird! I don't think I'll call them mom and dad but first name basis would be nice!
