My mom's sister is my only aunt. Her three kids, ages 40, 38, and 36, are my only cousins. And all of them have come up with a variety of reasons why they can't attend my shower and wedding. (My cousin's wife called my mother a month in advance to tell her that she had a FUNERAL the day of my shower. W T f?)
My family isn't very big to begin with... now my aunt and cousins ditch me??? So pissed!

i'm sorry to hear that. i have a very small family as well and understand how you must be feeling. They've done similar things in the past and i'm hoping they don't screw me on my wedding also. Family sometimes sux!

so sorry to hear! i am a bit confused about the whole funeral thing is it someone that they are having a memorial for because they may have been out of state or are they fibing?

Did your cousin maybe mean she had to attend a memorial service? Those are usually planned well in advance.
Regardless, I'm very sorry to hear that your relatives are making excuses...it's happened to me and I know how much it hurts.

I understand how you feel - sometimes family can be a real pain. You are much better off without them there to ruin your day. Just imagine what they might behave like if they actually showed up.
BTW - is your cousin's wife psychic? I usually don't find out about funerals a month in advance...

I'm sorry to hear that....but look at it like this. Whoever wants to be at your wedding, will be there...not matter what was planned a month in advance.

Wow! I really hope that she mixed up funeral and memorial because what a horrible excuse to use. I'm so sorry that your aunt and cousins are not willing to be there for you on such important days in your life. Hopefully they will wake up and realize that they are being so hurtful.

Don't let this bother you.....i know you feel ditched, but wouldn't you rather spend the day with people who want to be there for you??? I know....that doesn't make you feel better (please see my post about how i say stupid things), but trust me, you'll be so nuts that day and having so much fun you prob won't even notice
